I looked up from the book I was reading and glanced at the time written on my alarm clock beside my bedside table.

8.00 am.

I had woken up, surprisingly to be on my bed, at 3.00 am, and since then, I had been doing nothing but re-reading a classic novel The Outsiders by S.E Hinton. It honestly is my all-time favorite book. I can relate to Ponyboy and Johnny to a certain extent. Especially, Johnny.

Another hour had passed by when someone knocked on my door. I sighed tiredly and went to the door to open it. When I opened the door, I was not surprised to see my mum there, with a plate full of my favorite food.

My lips twitched into a small smile, grateful that Mom still remembered the routine we do whenever one of us has a bad day. "Come in," I said, opening the door further to let Mom in.

My mom also smiled and came inside before sitting in the bed. I followed her and went under my blanket to cuddle in the nice warmth. Mom set up some food and we both started eating.

"You didn't sleep last night," Mom stated, cutting a piece of bacon and taking a bite of it before drinking her coffee.

"Yeah," I said and also drank my coffee, letting the strong taste fill my tastebuds. "You didn't either sleep either."

She sighed, putting down the fork. "Yeah. Are you okay Ari?"

Am I?

"I think I am fine mom. Just a little bit shaken up from the incident." I told her honestly.

"What do you suggest we do about this Ari?"

I put my fork down as well. "We just keep our guard up. I already know how to fight and won't hide anything if something happens. Having bodyguards won't make sense as there are already some for my brother and me. We just have to see what happens."

She smiled sadly before taking the plates with her. "Do you want me to tell them about this? Your brother means?"

I smiled back. "Sure." But then I remembered something, and my smile immediately dropped. "How did they react?"

"They were mad at him but concerned for you." She spoke. I nodded my head in response. "Go get some sleep, Ari. God knows you need it."

I smile and cheekily said, "Good morning Mom."

She slightly laughed. "Good morning, Ari." She then closed the door, leaving me all alone. My smile immediately dropped as I sighed as read the sad part of the book.
