If you know me, you'll know that instead of saying "What the heck?" or "Oh, crap!", I say "What the lembas?" and "Oh, lembas!".
I've been saying that a lot lately, but every time I say it, I get really hungry.
So I decided to make Lembas bread!
Do you guys want to make it too? I'm going to show you how to make this delicious Elvish snack.
• ELVEN LEMBAS BREAD •
Servings
6 servingsIngredients
2 cups of flour
1 ripe banana, mashed
¼ cup organic coconut oil
½ cup maple syrup
2T white chia seeds
6T water
A pinch of sea salt
Non-poisonous leaves like Hawaiian Ti leaves or collard greens (optional)
Hemp twine (optional)Instructions
1. Mix the chia seeds with the water and set aside for 5 minutes until it forms a gel.
2. Add the mashed banana, coconut oil, maple syrup, the chia gel and salt to a large mixing bowl.
3. Gently mix in the flour. Do not over mix or your Lembas will be tough.
4. Form the dough into a ball and refrigerate for one hour.
5. Sprinkle flour over your bench and rolling pin. Roll the dough about a ¼ inch thick and cut into squares with a cookie cutter or knife.
6. Use the blunt edge of a knife or spatula to mark an "X" on the top of each square. Do not cut all the way through.
7. Bake at 176°C (350°F) for around 25 minutes.
8. Wrap in leaves and secure with twine.Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
There you go! Some lovely lembas to take with you on your next adventure. The great part about it is that it's suitable for vegans too! Remember, one bite is enough to fill a grown man, so don't be a fool of a Took and eat it all at once. ;)
