After unpacking everything by MYSELF, I collapse into the couch. Dave got a call for an audition and took off soon after I came back with the key. I'm just glad the bellboy was there to help me bring up all the stuff. I set up my room, his room, and unloaded the leftover snacks from the road trip.

Looking around the already furnished apartment I sigh. The cable isn't set up yet and it's getting really boring. Even though I never really got to watch tv, it's still interesting. Glancing at my outfit, I shrug. I am dressed in jean shorts, loose tank top with a bedazzled design and a fringed vest. I was all sweaty after cleaning, so I took a shower.

Exploring shouldn't be too bad, right?

Kicking myself off the couch, I grab the keys, my phone, and walk out the door. I think I'm going to ask the desk guy what there is to do here. Or maybe pick up a brochure. Humming softly to myself, I enter the lobby. I jump back startled when a frantic woman jumps in front of me.

"Have you seen my son, Tyler? He is 10 years old, red hair, freckles, adorable, born to be an actor?" she rushed out.

"N-no, ma'am. I haven't, sorry" I say.

"Tyler! We have an audition!" the woman sings.

She runs away while repeating Tyler's name and their audition plans. I feel bad, poor kid must be lost. I take another step when a kid that woman just described jumps in front of me.

"Thank you! You must be new here; I'm Tyler and I don't want to do a diaper commercial" the kid said before running off.

With raised brows, I look at the screaming woman by the pool area then to the boy running into the elevator. Well, that's LA for ya. Mentally shrugging it off, I keep walking. Again, I didn't get more than 2 steps when another frantic woman jumps in front of me.

"You look like a relatable teen" she said sweetly before pulling me close to her "Can you babysit?"

"Er, sure?" I questioned.

"Great!" she smiles wide.

I didn't have time to rethink my decision or actions because she was already leading me back to the apartment area of this place. In the elevator, I nervously shifted my weight on my feet.

"You're not going to murder me, are you?" I found myself asking.

"Don't be silly" she laughs.

"O-okay" I stutter out.

The elevator doors open, and she pulls me along. My heart is beating out of my chest, my hands are sweaty, and I am rethinking every life choice I ever made. We get to apartment 2J, and I feel like this is my last moment seen alive. She opens the door, and my jaw hits the ground. At least my last moments alive will have a great view.

A little girl pops up from behind a counter and I jump back with my hand on my chest. I am still very much on edge. But hey, at least there really is a kid.

"Really, mom? Dressing up a teen to be relatable. That is a new low" the little girl said.

"Hey?" I said in a confused tone.

"Hi" the girl glanced at me then went back to talking to her mom "It's only 3 hours. Why can't I stay by myself?"

"Because you are 10" her mom said in a that's final tone "Now, meet- what's your name?"

The little girl threw up her hands in frustration and groaned. I smile at the woman trying to be polite. I am relaxed now that I know I'm not going to be murdered.

"Lin" I say.

"Meet, Lin, your new babysitter" she turned to me "Call me if you need anything"

"Of course" I smile.
