I stayed up for a few hours after finding my journal. Inspiration struck and there was no stopping me from fixing the beat to fit the lyrics. I ended up sleeping for half the day. I woke up to a text from James saying to meet at the pool. After a quick shower, gathering my things, I head down.
I'm at the entrance of the pool area and stop in my tracks. James is walking up to three girls confidently. I watch amused as he flips his hair. One thing's for sure, I did not expect them to resist his natural charms. All three girls put up their hand and walk around him.
I bit back a laugh as I got us smoothies, strawberry. Walking towards him, I have a smile.
"Better luck next time" I say.
"I don't need luck, who can resist... this" he does that jazz hand thing with both hands.
"Riight" I chuckle.
Handing him a smoothie we go and sit down. I lean back into the chair while sipping from this strawberry goodness.
"So, you write music?" James asked.
"Yeah, but I'm not all that good" I say.
"I bet you're great" he said.
Chuckling softly, I shake my head.
"You never even seen anything I wrote" I say.
"Sooo show me" he said.
Glancing at him, I see he moved to sit on the edge of his chair. My music can be very personal; the song I wrote last night is an example of that. Sighing, I set my smoothie aside and pull out my notepad. I write down something off the top of my head then hand it to him. Sipping on my smoothie again, I have nerves bunched up in my stomach.
He began humming. From the corner of my eye, I see him bobbing his head. I don't know if that should calm my nerves or not.
"It's not bad at all" he said before singing "You took my heart, thought you'd give it back, but I was wrong, should've known from the start, but now you both are long gone"
"Buut..." I say, there is always a but when it comes to artists.
Not complaining, they have great ideas, sometimes.
"You should try adding" he said before singing "You broke me, you played me, you took my heart, thought you'd give it back but I was wrong, should of known from the start, but now you both are long gone, now I'm sitting in the rain, nothing can take back all this pain"
"Not bad at all" I smile at him.
We high five and dive into making those few lyrics into an actual song. Idea after idea, they just kept flowing. We had so much thought into something that was nothing, my hand cramped as I wrote it all down.
Our time eventually came to an end. I really like having James around, not only is he a cure for my writer's block, but he is also really sweet and funny.
That was yesterday, today is a new day and I've been cooped up in my apartment all day. The cabal is finally hooked up and Dave's interview is playing. I think it's live.
In the middle of making popcorn someone knocked on the door. With furrowed brows, I open it. My lips part in shock. I didn't tell anyone my apartment number but here standing in front of me, is Mrs. Knight.
"Hi?" I awkwardly wave.
"Hello, Lin. Do you think you can watch Katie?" she asked pulling out Katie from behind her.
