(Third Person)
The call just ended and now the four teenage boys are talking over each other. Kendall stands up and puts his arms in an 'X' position before extending as he said 'stop'. That got the other three's attention and shut them up.
"Okay, so it goes without saying we are throwing Lin a surprise party" Kendall said.
"Right" all three say.
"Question is, how do we find out her birthday?" he asked.
"We can hire a private investigator!" Carlos said.
"Okay, any more ideas?" Kendall asked.
"We can go through her laptop" James suggested.
"Okay, Logan?" Kendall asked.
"Or we can just wait a few minutes until she's sleeping again and call her back while she's still in a dream state like mindset" Logan said.
"Aand we're going that" Kendall snaps his fingers to Logan.
As the four boys wait, they throw off party ideas to each other. They felt like no one deserves to not celebrate their birthday. Making that person Lin, they felt even more driven to make it happen.
She is a friend.
When the time came to call her back, they all gathered at the booth inside the tour bus. Logan sat by James and Kendall sat by Carlos. They all glance at each other as the phone rings. The anticipation is thick.
"Hello? Malinda speaking, tell me something great" she answered groggily.
"Hey, we were just wondering-" Carlos started speaking.
Kendall wrapped a hand around his mouth and looked at Logan. Logan stampers and clears his throat to change the tone of his voice.
"Yes, uh, we were wondering if you'd like to participate in an on-call survey?" he said in a deeper voice.
"Sure" she said.
"Great! First question, if you had to choose from princesses or ponies, what would you choose?" Logan asked in that deep voice.
"Princesses" Lin mumbles.
"Between any flavor of cake, which would you choose?" he asked.
"Chocolate" she yawns.
"Now, when is your birthday?" he asked.
All four guys lean forward towards the phone waiting for the million-dollar question.
"December 26th" she sleepily said.
"Great! Now what is your dream party?" Logan asked.
"Uhmm, I don't know, being surrounded by family and friends? Uh, I don't know" she said.
"If you could choose any theme in the world, what would it be?" he asked.
Again, all four lean closer to the phone waiting for her response.
"I" she yawns "I guess under water theme. Like fishes, mermaids and sharks. I'm hanging up now, hope this helped whatever weird survey this was"
When the call hangs up, they guys smile at each other. A light went off in their heads and now they know what direction they should be going.
Every day, for the remaining 5 weeks on tour, they made lists. Planned out every tiny detail for Lin's surprise birthday party. One tiny problem, it will have to be early because everyone will be gone on her actual birthday. They all will be gone for the holidays, including them.
