Song: How to save a life by The Fray (lyrics)
Step one, you say we need to talk
He walks, you say sit down, it's just a talk
He smiles politely back at you
You stare politely right on through
Some sort of window to your right
As he goes left, and you stay right
Between the lines of fear and blame
You begin to wonder why you cameWhere did I go wrong?
I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a lifeLet him know that you know best
'Cause after all, you do know best
Try to slip past his defense
Without granting innocence
Lay down a list of what is wrong
The things you've told him all along
And pray to God he hears you
And I pray to God he hears youAnd where did I go wrong?
I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a lifeAs he begins to raise his voice
You lower yours and grant him one last choice
Drive until you lose the road
Or break with the ones you've followed
He will do one of two things
He will admit to everything
Or he'll say he's just not the same
And you'll begin to wonder why you cameWhere did I go wrong?
I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a lifeWhere did I go wrong?
I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a lifeHow to save a life
How to save a lifeWhere did I go wrong?
I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a lifeWhere did I go wrong?
I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a lifeHow to save a life
How to save a life***********************************************************
"You're just like everyone else to me." His words ricocheted around her head, bouncing from one end to the other in a clanging cacophony, like a broken record on repeat.
The words were bad enough because he had promised. Promised in no uncertain terms. Reassured her that no one would ever call her that, 'The Other One'. Yet, here he was, he, of all people, doing just that.
The words themselves were bad enough, but it was his eyes that hit the final blow. With a sinking feeling in her stomach, Sanem had stared at them for the longest time. Even in that moment, when it felt like the world was collapsing around her, when searing pain lanced through her chest, she couldn't help the feelings he evoked in her. She was irresistibly drawn to this perfectly flawed man.
His face, oh his handsome face! It gave credence to the biblical claim of man having been created in God's image because it was truly out of this world – a masterpiece crafted by the skilled hands of a divine sculptor. Almost ethereal. Beautiful in all its manliness. His thick mane of hair swept back neatly, tamed and tucked into a man-bun near his nape. His perfectly shaped eyebrows sat over his deep hazel eyes. His long eyelashes fanned out, now unmoving though, as he stared unblinking. His neatly trimmed moustache and beard which tickled when she cupped her hands around them.
