SCENE : IN THE SAFE HAVEN, AFTER NEWT'S DEATH

thomas was the one who had it all. he had immunity, he had the brains to run the operation, he had the bravery to lead the group through the scorch. but what he doesn't have now, is newt. and the strength to carry on without the one boy who never left his side.

thomas was the master of his and newt's fate. he thought he never needed anyone, working with wckd made him slightly emotionless. he learned the truth too late. he'll never be able to shake away the pain.

thomas closed his eyes and inhaled deeply, but newt's still there. always etched in his mind and his presence surrounding him always. it's more than he could bear.

thomas knows, that newt will never leave him, even as he runs away toward the light. newt will still torment him, calm him, hurt him, love him, come what may. wasting in the lonesome haven, waiting by the ocean everyday, he fools himself that newt will come back, that newt will be real, beside him, not just a hallucination. he fools himself newt will walk right to him, and be with him for evermore.

he stayed by the shore for perhaps the whole day, replaying that gruesome incident over and over, with multiple scenarios, but it all somehow ended the same. thomas cursed at the fading of the sunlight, another day had gone by without newt. he hated that it was newt who had to go.

though newt had flown so far beyond his reach, he's never out of thomas's sight. thomas knows newt'll never leave him, even as he fades from view. he will still inspire him, be a part of everything thomas does. as the long long night begins, he thinks longingly about all the could have happened between him and newt, waiting by the ocean, for evermore.
