Chapter 27: Finn
"How are you?" I ask Octavia.
"Still feeling like shit," she says, sighing.
"Come with me," I say.
"Why?" she asks grumpily, a look of exhaustion crossing her face.
"I'm taking you outside - maybe you'll realise how much you have to live for." I hand her her temporary crutches and she takes them reluctantly.
"Do I have to do this?" she groans.
"Yes," I say. "Trust me, it'll be worth it."

We're out in the forest, but Octavia doesn't look any more interested than before. Her tired eyes graze over our surroundings, still showing the pain she must be feeling. The singing birds don't even brighten the mood.
"Why did you take me here?" she asks grumpily. "It's the same old, same old. Like, the five-winged birds are screeching and creepy little bugs are scuttling around and the trees are glowing and something is probably gonna kill us."
"Don't be like that," I say. "Look at how swift those birds are, and those things that are gonna kill us can fuck off."
She laughs light-heartedly. "What about the bugs? You didn't say anything nice about them."
"That's because they don't deserve anything nice; they're bugs and they're probably the ones that'll kill us by eating our flesh or something."
"And this is supposed to help, how?" she asks.
"Just take a look around you. Look at how beautiful everything is," I say.
She takes a moment to look around her, but her expression doesn't change until I catch her squinting at something in the sky.
"Wow, I love giant balls of fire," she says sarcastically.
"What?" I question.
She points at something in the distance. "Do you think it's three hundred dead bodies again?"
Oh, God, I know what it is. It's the Ark.

"Clarke!" I shout, running into our house with a limping Octavia by my side.
Clarke looks startled when I burst in through the door, my blood rushing to my face as I relax.
"What is it?" she asks. "I was worried about you." She hugs me tight but I break away.
"It's the Ark," I say. "It's here early."
Her face goes as pale as a canvas. "It is?"
"It is?!" Octavia says, even more shocked. "We need to go and find it."
"You're staying here with Raven," Clarke instructs.
Octavia slumps down, clearly annoyed. "Why?" she asks stubbornly.
"Because of your leg," she says.
"How many people should I get?" I ask.
"Get Bellamy, Barnes, Jasper and Monty - a few more maybe just in case."

The smoke rising a few miles in front of us signals that we're near, but it doesn't look good. We've been walking for a few hours and if it's still smoking then I'm expecting a lot of casualties. Just as long as Abby is okay, I'm sure Clarke will be fine, too.
"Wait a second," Jasper says. "I'm gonna see if I can get a better view."
He begins to climb up a tree to the higher parts where the branches are thin.
"Can you see anything?" Barnes asks.
"There are about a hundred people or so, with some more coming out of the pods. Oh, and there's a fire surrounding them."
"A what?" Clarke asks, standing on her tiptoes to heighten herself. "Is it big?"
"No, but it's spreading," Jasper says, worry laced in his voice.
"We need to get there quickly," I say.
I break into a run and the others follow behind me, each step making the smell of burning forest more prominent.

A/N
This was kind of just a filler chapter and I'm sorry that the chapters have been quite bad. I wrote this chapter in the space of one hour but I PROMISE the next one will be better. I've decided I'm not continuing the series after Queen because I want to focus on Coffee (my Clexa AU: go and read it)
