Chapter 2: Finn
Everyone is gathered around a deep pit that's been dug in the ground. A deep pit for a body - Malcolm's body. Clarke found him on the floor of the drop ship last night, everything about him pale apart from the cold, red blood pooling around his open mouth.
"We're lowering the body, now," Clarke says, resting her hand on my shoulder.
Bellamy and a few others stand close to the pit with ropes strung around Malcolm's lifeless corpse. Their muscles contract as they let him down slowly as a single tear slips from my eye. I swing my arm around Clarke's shoulder, squeezing her arm.
"What's going on?" Harper bounds up to us from behind.
"Erm, nothing," I say, ushering her away from the scene. "We'll only be a few minutes longer."
She cocks her head to the side. "What's that?" she asks, pointing at the grave.
"Nothing important, just go for a few minutes and we'll be there soon."
"But I want to stay with you and Mommy."
I look to Clarke. "Can she?"
"It's not like she hasn't seen it before," she says.
*Flashback*
We're out hunting when I see it. A dead body. One of us, not a grounder. I can't tell who it is because their face is coated with dirt and blood - probably theirs.
"Mommy, Daddy, look at that! What is it?" Harper asks.
Clarke stands there, stock still, her lips moving but no sound coming out. She turns to me. "They're dead."
I nod silently.
"What do you mean?" Harper steps toward the carcass. "Dead?"
"They're... Not alive anymore." I say.
Blood starts to drip from the body's eyes, staining the ground. There's a rancid smell of rotting flesh as the body begins to bleed all over and its skin dissolves in acidic bubbles
*End of flashback*
Harper stares at me intently. "He's dead, isn't he?"
"Yes," I say. "He is."
"Was that your patient this morning?"
"Yep. His name was Malcolm." Clarke sighs.

My hand is held tightly by Clarke as she leads me into the forest.
"You see that?" she asks me, directing my vision high into the trees. "There's something shiny."
I look around and a tiny circular box catches my eye. "I see it," I say. "But what is it?"
"I don't know; I'm gonna climb up and find out." She rushes to the massive tree and sticks her foot into bark, beginning the climb. Her hands lock onto each branch as she ascends and finally reaches the box. Her fingers close around it as she climbs down as quickly as she can.
"Let me look at it." I rest my head on her shoulder and peer at it.
A red lights flashes each second and it starts to buzz as the glass lense on the front expands. Then I realise what it is. I haven't seen them much before, only when I was on the Ark, that must be where it's from.
It's a camera.
