Chapter 9: Octavia
"And then she kissed him!" Bellamy shouts, a surge of tears flowing down his face, spilling onto his red-hot cheeks. I haven't seen him like this since we were kids, when mom died. Raven kissing Zak must have hit him hard; they've been on-and-off since we got to the ground and she dumped Finn.
"But, why?" I ask.
"I don't know! She just did." His face falls into his hands and his cries get louder.
"She was a bitch, anyway."
"Hey." He stops crying immediately. "Just because of what Raven did doesn't mean we need to talk trash about her."
"Sorry. Just trying to make you feel better."
"Well, it's not working!"
"Fine, be that way." I push myself up from his bed leave the room, walking back into my own to get back to sleep.
Raven better have some answers tomorrow.

When I wake up I go into Bellamy's room to check on him, and as I expected he's still asleep, his pillows damp.
Right, time to find Raven.
As I step outside the cold winter breeze hits me full-on; I really should have worn something else other than a t-shirt and shorts. Raven's house is a three minute walk across camp. Her difficult personality decided she wanted to live on the "suburbs" of camp, away from everyone else.
When I eventually get to her house after an angry speed-walk I knock on her door violently, only stopping when she opens it and I almost punch her face in.
"Octavia?" She looks surprised.
"I am she," I answer.
"Wh-why are you here?"
"I think you know exactly why I'm here." I fold my arms across my chest.
"No, I don't."
"Why did you do it?"
She sighs. "Fine, you've got me. Come in." She opens the door further and steps to the side, letting me in.
Her place is a mess: dirty laundry scattered over the ground, plates piled high on tabletops. It looks like she hasn't cleaned for at least a week. I slowly sit down on the edge of one of her chairs that's coated with a layer of dust.
"Talk," I demand. "Now."
Raven looks around to find another seat, but it appears they're all stacked up in a corner so she places her self on the floor.
"I don't know," she says nonchalantly.
"You don't know what?" I stand up from my seat abruptly.
"I don't know why I kissed him."
"Come on, there must be something in that empty brain of yours. Anything."
"Are you inferring that I'm stupid?" She stands up and levels her face with mine.
"I'm implying that you're stupid. You just inferred it." A small giggle escapes my mouth. "Well, stupid enough to cheat on someone who really cares about you."
"It's not cheating, just a kiss."
"Just a kiss? It probably wasn't just a kiss to Zak."
"He'll get over it; so will Bellamy." She shrugs.
"Right." Before I realise my intentions I find my hand held around her neck. "Listen here, you little shit. It's about time you realise that the world doesn't revolve around you."
Raven barely flinches - instead she smirks, just standing there.
"O, I know that. But it's fun to play a few games with people, you know?" She laughs quietly and slinks out of the door silently, closing it behind her.
With my anger raging out of control, I open the door again and run outside, Raven still walking away.
"Hey," I shout, slowing my pace as I get closer to her.
She turns around, a pleasantly shocked look formed as her expression. "What?" she asks.
"There's something on your face," I say, followed by a hard collision of my fist and her face. "It was pain!"
"Ow," she groans. "Why would you do that?" She brings her hand to her lower cheek.
"To teach you not to mess with my brother."
"Then it seems we both have a lesson to learn -" Just as Raven's about to charge at me a boy crashes through the trees and dashes between us. It's Jasper.
"Break it up, ladies," he says, spreading his arms to the side to keep us apart. "What's going on?"
"Raven kissed Zak!" I exclaim, pointing my finger in Raven's direction.
Raven gives me an exhausted look.
"You what?" he yells. "Why would you do that?"
She shrugs. "Dunno. He's cute."
"That's not a valid reason," he says.
"Just leave it, okay?" She throws her arms up in the air and walks back into her house.
I run into Jasper's arms, something that I haven't done in a while. He just stands there for a couple of seconds before nervously wrapping his self around me in return.
My breath catches in my throat before I speak. "I hate Raven," I say.
"Doesn't everyone?" He laughs anxiously.
"Good point."
I pull away slowly, savouring our hug.
"Well, I should probably be getting back," I say.
"Yeah, okay, then. Can I see you later?"
His words take me aback. "Later? Sure, if I'm not busy."
"Okay, thanks. See you in a couple of hours."
***
The sky's beginning to dim as I walk back to mine and Bellamy's house. Just before I get in the door I'm knocked to the floor by someone.
"Surprise, bitch," they say, and the voice belongs to Raven, of course. "Bet you thought you had seen the last of me."
"No, to be honest," I say, my voice breathy. "I knew you'd come back."
Raven's foot crashes into my stomach, forcing bile to the back of my throat. She continues to kick a couple more times without saying a word, just a frown on her face.
"That's for the punch." She spits the words as if they're a bitter taste in her mouth.
She struts away, her dark hair swishing about behind her. I push myself up, coughing and spluttering as I do. When I'm finally able to stand on my feet, I put my hand on the door handle and let myself in. I collapse on my bed as soon as I step into my bedroom, breathing heavily. I just hope I can make it to Jasper tonight without getting beaten up.
My door bursts open all of a sudden. Finn stands in the entrance, his face flushed pink.
"Octavia," he says, panicked. "There's another."
"Another what?" I ask, getting up off my bed with all the strength I have.
"Another person's been shot with an arrow. A grounder arrow."
