Caroline's point of view

The rhythm of my heart beat must be loud for the crowd to hear.

Matilda ran and hit into me, pulling me in behind of her.

"It's Pauline, they are taking Pauline ."

What the hell is she talking about?

I was there when Talat arrested her.

What does she mean?

Matilda skid in front of the station entrance and I almost lost my foot brake behind her, when I look up and saw Talat and Aziz along with a crowd of men. They must be from that room.

I tried to fix my face and my breathing, I couldn't and they reached us and I felt like I died.

The breath left my lungs and I bend over and put my hands on my knees.

"Is everything okay here?" Aziz asked, looking behind us.

"I'm fine, I'm just not..."

"Come with me," I heard Talat said, his firm fingers wrapped around my body and pulled me away.

"Where is Matilda?" I whispered, keeping my head down, my posture half bend as if in pain.

"She is right behind us, we are heading towards my car."

"They are heading towards the area," Matilda said.

"Keep your voice to yourself, I don't want to hear it. Look what you almost did, you almost got me, got me..."

"Shhh, She is innocent. Get in and don't look around."

***

I was zoned out the whole drive. My mind was too tired to talk. I refuse to answer any questions from my saviour.

Matilda was sulking in the corner, I knew it was because of what I said.

"Here we are," He parked the car and I realized  we are in a garage.

"Here where?"

"My place."

"And what are we doing at your place?"

"To answer my questions. What did you see? Why were you around there in the first place?"

"What? If this is quizzing maybe you should have bring me to the station room."

Like what the hell?

I opened the car door and step  out.

Matilda followed and came around and stood beside me.

"I'm sorry I-"

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have snap at you like that, you should be shouting at me right now, for keeping a secret from you. I didn't know we had a brother until recently, that's the other reason why I left dad's place."

She shoved herself into my arm and I knew her heart wanted to cry.

"Don't,  don't cry here, always try hard not to cry in front of people. Don't show your weaknesses to all your friends and definitely not to strangers," I whispered  in her ear.

"No, I shouldn't have said that, come on cry, cry now and be free."

I listen to her cry, until she hiccups.

"I miss daddy."

My heart melt.

"You'll see him soon, okay baby?," I kissed the top of her head and pull her back, I wiped her tears.

"Ask one of them inside to show you a bathroom and freshen up."

Talat

She looked at me for permission and I nod my head.

As soon as she was a couple feet away, he turned to me.

"What did you do?" I asked.

Present

Talat's point of view

I knew the moment the boss walked in, that he knew.

He wanted to know what I did to Pauline. He figured I had her taken and could have only put her there. He went there himself and with a duplicate key he entered.

Pauline was all messy in front of him, tears of a crocodiles I knew she had. The trick is that she knew who killed his son and is willing to tell him if he gets her out.

He was going to do it, but he came to me first to curse me out, but I already ordered  inspector Ried to get her out of there. Yes, she is now on my side.

She was put as an inside job by my grandmother, to keep a eye Things.

I had hoped by the time we reached there, she would be gone. Now all I have to do is to pretend that Pauline is no longer In My grasp.

Pretend?

"Pretend?" Caroline asked me. "Pretend? Are you crazy? Why would you go through all of that for me? You could go to jail!"

"Shh, lower your voice."

"Lower my voice? Bullshit! You could go to jail for so seems conspiracy of hiding her, Are you nuts? No, no, am telling someone, I'm gonna call and tell Aziz."

"You will not, because you are staying here, and you won't be allowed to use your phone, or any other phone In this house. Just be calm and keep quiet and then you can be free as before. Remember you are a murder, I mean by defense but think on Your side, for once."

She rubbed her hand through her hair and I saw her hand still in a bondage.

"Let me see," I took it and her hands were shaking. "I want you to believe in me, I want you to believe that we can make it, you don't even deserve a year in prison, you don't deserve any of this lifestyle that you had going on."

Her eyes are so beautiful. Allah.

"Okay, I can finally say you look better in person than on cameras."

Volkan

We step apart and she look everywhere but at him.

"Is the footage clean?"

"Footage? Camera footage?  He is involved in this too?" She finally looked at him.

"Caroline meet my cousin Volkan, volkan, the Caroline."

"The Caroline? Again?" She walked away inside and Volkan eyes followed her.

"Nah, you don't. You don't look at her."

"I don't what? I shouldn't look at her?"

"Asshole. I mean do not even glance, I will poke your eyes out."

"Oh, really?" He asked, amusement all over his face.

"By the way what's up with Akim? I was drunk but I saw you-"

"The footage is clean, I made sure to keep in touch with the inspector. They moved the woman to her place."

His face and voice turned to 'all business' and he cleared his throat.

"She and I are not together anymore, I didn't mean to-"

"I don't want to talk about it, I will see you around."

Shit

--------------------------------------------------------------

I want them to get closer so the romance can start. It's twenty-second chapter and no kiss... For the first in all my books. 🙄  Too much drama is going on but am working on it.
