Chapter 59

When they got off the train, it was still morning. They found the guesthouse and put down their luggage, then took a brief rest before heading out.

Their first stop was the park that Yun Xiaolu and Xiao'e had been longing for. It was the first time for the three of them, mother and daughters, to visit a park. However, the plants in the park during the northern winter were bare, and the buildings were dilapidated and simple. Yun Xiaolu quickly lost interest after taking a look around.

"Not fun," Yun Xiaolu quietly complained to Xu Nianyun. She had always thought that everything in the city would be great, but it turned out that this park was not as beautiful as their backyard. It couldn't even compare to Xiaonanshan.

Xu Nianyun agreed with this sentiment. In fact, when she was a child, she didn't think that the parks in the city had more beautiful natural landscapes. But living in the city, they didn't have much choice.

"Should we go shopping instead?" Xiao'e also didn't have much interest in continuing the stroll.

The park was not far from the supply and marketing cooperative and the bookstore. Since the city itself was not very big, they only needed to take two bus stops to reach them.

Then they discovered that the supply and marketing cooperative and the bookstore were adjacent to each other. After Yun Xiaolu entered the bookstore, she wanted to take her time and agreed with Zhao Yueji and Xiao'e to meet them next door after buying the books.

"I won't get lost." Yun Xiaolu was very trustworthy in this regard.

Zhao Yueji was afraid of being late for the supply and marketing cooperative's closing time, so she nodded in agreement. It was clear that Xiao'e was not particularly interested in the bookstore either.

Yun Xiaolu came this time not just to buy a dictionary. "Aixuexi" had asked her to buy some notebooks suitable for taking notes, saying that they might need them later. Unfortunately, after looking around, she couldn't find any notebooks in the bookstore that met the "Aixuexi" standard. In the end, she exchanged her points with the system for six thick, black, leather-bound notebooks and bought a few ballpoint pens before leaving.

Zhao Yueji and Xiao'e wandered around the supply and marketing cooperative, but they didn't decide to buy anything. Mainly because Zhao Yueji suddenly realized that if her son got married and she bought something here, she would probably have to mail it back, which would be troublesome and might get lost. So, it would be better not to buy anything today.

Of course, Zhao Yueji didn't intend to buy nothing. "These cookies are different from the ones in our hometown. Should we buy some to take back?"

Yun Da had given them two pounds of snack vouchers, which couldn't be saved. Zhao Yueji thought for a moment and agreed even more.

"Mom, let's buy some oranges too." Yun Xiaolu came in carrying two large paper bags, and others couldn't see what was inside, but it looked like books.

"Did you buy so much?" Xiao'e looked at Xiaolu with some surprise. She thought the paper bags contained books since they looked like it. But does her younger sister have that much money?

"I only bought a dictionary for books. The rest are several big notebooks. I feel like they will last a long time," Xiaolu explained vaguely.

Upon hearing that it was stationery, Xiao'e didn't ask any further questions. After all, no matter how big the notebooks were, they weren't worth much compared to books.

However, when they returned to the guesthouse, Xiao'e looked at the meticulously crafted notebooks that were thicker than textbooks and suddenly doubted if these notebooks were more expensive than books.
