Summer was almost over

Summer was almost over. And every girl who thought something of herself in Cousins new exactly what that meant. Daisy Cornelia Astors annual pre-Deb soiree. It was everything a girl could dream of, dressing up in layers on layers of tulle in every shade of pastel, eating your worries about the debutant ball away in macarons and spilling the tea on your dates. It was an evening that Daisy prided herself with, taking over the tradition from her grandmother.

Staff was running around the Astor Gardens as Daisy commanded, preparing every last detail of this magical evening.

There weren't many rules about attending the Astor Soiree. However, three things were to be kept in mind by attendees. First of all, dress like a million bucks. Preferably in light colors of yellow, pink and blue. Secondly, wear your favorite fascinator. If our families want to show us off the following night, why not make this experience slightly more amusing.

Lastly, Daisy's favorite rules, no boys. No dates. No male human beings in the range of 10 square miles.

"Hey Daise," the sound of Nicoles voice approached the blonde from behind. Turing around, Daisy was greeted by her best friend wearing a beautiful floor-length light blue silk dress.

"Oh my gosh Nicky, thank you for getting here early," Daisy greeted her, hugging the taller girl tightly.

Daisy herself was wearing light pink off-shoulder ruffled dress, matching it with a light blue fascinator on her head.

"Are you sure you're up to this tonight?" Nicole asked her friend concerned, knowing how Daisy would love to hide her feelings away.

It was no lie that Daisy was a queen of concealing what she was truly feeling. And today was no exception. Nothing was going according to plan. Her parents were bailing on tomorrows debutant ball, Conrad turned out to be a fraud and her dress for tomorrow was still being altered.

Daisy was drowning in anxiety. And Nicole knew her better than anyone.

"Of course I am, why wouldn't I be, silly?" Daisy chuckled, furrowing her eyebrows, before turning around and walking over to the table being set.

"Yes, why wouldn't you be," Nicole sighned, following the blonde beauty.

Tonight was going to be a long night
