It has been two days since Daisy's encounter with Jeremiah and Belly. And it has been two days of Conrad being stuck in her mind, once again.

Kendall and Ashton knew something wasn't right with her, but didn't dare to push the blonde further. They didn't know Daisy prior to last fall. They did not know how the blonde normally bloomed in Cousins, or how her personality changed from her cold stares to warm embraces when around Nicole. And after everything that happened, it seemed as if they would never get to know this side of her.

However, that didn't hinder them from having the time of their lives. It started with the bonfire to open the season, continued with karaoke at a local pub and resulted in Ashton and Kendall staying home with a hangover, as Daisy met up with Nicole at a Cafe downtown.

The dark skinned beauty eyed Daisy curiously, as the blonde entered the cafe with a light striped shorts and a yellow cardigan thrown over. Nicole quickly noticed how differently Daisy carried herself this year. She knew the breakup was hard on her, but she had never guessed to encounter a completly different girl in front of her.

She wasn't the sun anyone was used to anymore. There was a darkness hidden behind her smile, and the sparks in her eyes had been missing ever since Susannah died. And ever since Conrad had broken her heart.

But Nicole smiled nonetheless as the blond sat down in front of her. She was glad she was there, that she was seemingly continuing with her life. Nicole could do nothing but pray for her dearest friend to heal with time. Maybe next year, Daisy's smile would be real again.

Daisy interrupted Nicole's thought, after ordering her drink with a flirty smile at the barista. "Tell me all about UCLA," Daisy gushed, smiling brightly at her best friend, "I feel like I haven't heard anything from you in ages!"

"Well, you did ignore most of my calls," Nicole giggled, eyebrows raised at the blonde, "But it has been great. Especially having summer all year long."

"Urgh, I can imagine," Daisy groaned, smiling brightly at the barista that placed her oat milk latte in front of the blonde, "I love Yale, but I have been freezing my ass off."

"Tell me more about those friends of yours," Nicole raised her eyebrows, sparing no second to finally reach the topic that had been bothering her, "Are you with him?"

Daisy sighed annoyed at the question, stirring her coffee with a little spoon, debating on the right answer. She knew Nicole only wanted what was best for her. But at this very moment, Daisy wanted what was wrong for her. She didn't want to think of her future, or about the pain in her heart. She wanted to move on.

Because every time she tried to imagine what her life would be like, or could be like – she still sees him. She still misses him. And she can't handle that anymore. He broke up with her, she had to move on. One way or another.
