"Love, I guess"

These words startled Conrad Fisher. He wasn't sure what he was thinking Daisy could possibly want from him, but this was surely a first. Daisy Astor was never known to be necessarily open about her feelings. The only time he das seen the girl actually express her feelings were towards her grandparents or her late Dalmatiner.

After seeing the look on the Fisher boy's face, Daisy quickly started to regret her decision, cursing herself internally, "You know what, that was silly of me, let's go have some cake"

Confusion was written onto Conrad's face, as Daisy began to quickly descend the pier. Catching himself again quickly, he ran after her, "Daisy wait!"

"I'm sorry, I don't know what I was thinking," the girl that was usually so composed, rambled, a blush tinting her cheeks.

"Don't be. Please stop and let's talk about this," Conrad tried, softly grabbing her shoulder and making her face him again, "Please just talk to me. What am I doing wrong?"

And there they were. The long kept a-bay tears started to roll down Daisy's face, as she tried to avoid Conrad's longing gaze. His words and pleading eyes threw Daisy down a spiral that she was so careful to avoid. And with that her fence broke down, crumbling in front of her into many tiny pieces. Reacting quickly, Conrad pulled the smaller girl into his arms, as she cried soft tears.

And for the first time this summer, Daisy knew exactly where she wanted to be. Her wall was falling, but Conrad was right where she needed him to be, catching her as she fell. Daisy felt safe

"I am so sorry, -" Daisy started, pushing herself away from his grasp as she tried to regain her posture. Wiping the tears away, she led the boy to sit down next to her on the pier.

"What for? What is going on?" Conrad asked confused, taking a place beside the girl, trying to establish eye contact. He couldn't handle the look on her face, the pain so evident.

"Please, just let me talk," Daisy whispered softly, and with that, she told him everything. Things that even Nicole and Shayla didn't know about. About her childhood, her parents, the love she never received and the decision to swear off it completely. A promise that the very boy in front of her was making it so hard for her to keep. She told him about her lonely childhood and the way that she was sure that love was just something meant for very few people in this world. And to her surprise, Conrad understood completely. He didn't doubt her or tried making her feel better, he saw her pain and he just understood. After all, his outlook on love was not that far from hers.

"So after all that time, all those summers I asked you out, this was the reason?" Conrad asked, trying to take in all the information he just received.
