I wake up to the blaring sound of my alarm, but surprisingly I don't feel too tired. Last night was the best night's sleep I'd had in a while, especially considering I'm not even in my own home. I reach over to the bedside table and slap my phone with my hand in an effort to turn the screeching noise off, eventually succeeding as it falls off the side. I can hear someone crashing around in the kitchen from here and wonder what on earth Satoru must be doing.
I rise from the comfortable bed and lug myself to the bedroom door, opening it as I'm hit with the smell of fresh pancakes. Looking over to the kitchen island, I can see him flipping them one by one. He's wearing a fitted white t shirt and black joggers, it's not a bad view to wake up to. Walking over, I take a seat across from him on the island and continue to watch him make breakfast. He's also laid out various toppings, lemon, sugar, golden syrup to name but a few. He 100% wasn't this good at cooking before I left.
"Did you sleep well?" He asks me, still dutifully focused on his task of making breakfast.
"Best sleep I've had in a while."
"No night terrors then?" He questions and I'm taken a back that he remembers I get them.
"No-o, no not last night... I did the last time I was here, that was probably the alcohol though."
"You do still get them then?" He says as he lays the final pancake upon the carefully arranged stack.
"Sometimes." This isn't the light morning, over-breakfast conversation I was hoping for and I'm not in the mood to trauma dump so I try to divert the conversation. "You're really good at this you know." I compliment.
"Well I do try." He says, turning round to rummage in his cupboards for plates and cutlery. I thank him as he places a knife and fork in front of me and passes me a plate. We both begin to eat the pancakes hungrily, as all we had to eat last night were canapés at the event meaning we're both starving. We come to the last one and split it between us.
Finishing the pancake in his mouth, Satoru begins, "I can drive us both to work this morning" before getting up to put his and my plate away and I too rise from my seat to help him with the clearing up. I internally cringe at the idea of Shoko and the students seeing us arrive in the same car, especially after they know we went to the event together. Then again, they're going to find out about my living situation some way or another, so might as well get it over with.
I insist on doing the washing up considering Satoru made us breakfast, and he also insists on helping. After we've cleared up, we depart to get ready for work. I put on my regular uniform, although it's still the one I was using in Rome, and make sure my bag is packed before heading back out into the living room where Satoru is waiting for me on his phone. I see him eye my up and down.
"You've still not got the Tokyo uniform?"
"Nope not yet." I say, smoothing out my skirt due to the sudden nervousness that's overcome me.
"You should. I liked the way it looked on you." He replies and I feel my cheeks heat up as I pull my bag further up my shoulder and begin walking towards the front door.
"I will. Eventually." I say as I shoot him a smile. We both make our way to the elevator and to the garage where Satoru's car is parked. As he opens the passenger door for me, I get in and he shuts after. He starts the Porsche and we drive out of the garage, beginning our journey to Jujutsu Tech.
"They're going to think it's odd when we arrive together." I point out to him.
"Probably. What do you want to tell them?"
"Nothing but the truth, we're having to live together for my safety. I'm sure Shoko will be heavily against this though."
"What makes you think that?" He asks as if he doesn't already know the answer.
