After calling a taxi to take me back to Satoru's apartment, I slump down on the couch in despair. My only lead has been destroyed and now I feel as if I can't do anything else to reach him. He has purposefully made himself unfindable just to distance himself from me and I won't lie by saying it doesn't sting. I rest my head back onto the back of the couch and run my hands over my face, glad I didn't wear makeup today as it would be all smeared off.

I hear my stomach rumble, but it feels as if I can't even honour my bodily functions when I'm not putting all my effort in to searching for Satoru. I pull myself up from the couch and make my way over to the fridge in the hopes of finding something to eat. I see there's some leftover takeaway pizza, which I reheat in the microwave and take back to the couch with me to eat.

Considering it feels as if I've hit a brick wall regarding how to track down Satoru any further, I might as well wait here and watch crappy Netflix shows in the meantime until I get some inspiration. I finish the pizza and recline back once again, shutting my eyes and letting the shrill noise of voices on the tv fill my ears. I must have fallen asleep at some point, because I'm woken up by a knocking at the door.

I wake to see the expanse of windows in front of me has now turned dark and realise that I must have slept through a good part of the day. The knocking resumes once again and I finally walk over to the door. I open it to reveal Shoko standing there and instantly attempt to shut the door in her face after our talk at Jujutsu Tech. Before I can do so, she shoves her foot in the door.

"If you're here to tell me why I should give up or to lecture me, just leave. I'm going to die before I give up-" I begin but she cuts me off.

"Y/n I'm not here to convince you otherwise. I'm here to apologise." She says quietly, causing me to remove the door from her foot. I look down at what she's holding and it seems to be Thai takeaway. I open the door wider for her to enter and she thanks me as she does so. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry for calling you insane, I don't know what you and Satoru's relationship was really like, so I can't understand your motivation to find him. But nonetheless, as your friend, it is my duty to help you with your goal." She says determined and it makes my heart warm.

"I'm sorry I got so annoyed. I shouldn't have acted so rashly and should have just explained my emotions to you." I say sincerely and she smiles at my response. She passes me the bag of food and I set it on the kitchen table, ready for us to eat. The food is delicious, and as we come to the end of our meal, Shoko begins to speak.

"I've actually found something that might be of use to you in finding him."

"What would that be?" I ask as she pulls out her laptop and places it on the table, pushing aside all of our takeaway boxes to make room. She opens it up and logs on before pulling up what seems to be some kind of choropleth map of Japan. She looks at me enthusiastically and I stare back at her confused. "You're going to need to tell me what I'm looking at here..." I say shaking my head.

She rolls her eyes at my ignorance. "This is a map showing where the largest number of curses have accumulated over the past three days." My eyes widen at this information.

"Since Satoru left..."

"Exactly. You see here in Kyoto?" She says, pointing with her finger to the area of the map that appears a deeper shade of red. "This darker colour means there's been a much higher number of curses registered in the area over the last few days. And these arrows pointing into the area, well these show the direction of migration." I nod my head, but she continues her explanation in case I didn't quite understand. "In short, curses have been purposefully moving towards this area from surrounding places, meaning there's been some kind of shift in power."
