Tossing and turning her body around in the morning, her body missed someone's presence when she moved her hand over the empty spot beside her. She sat up straight and rubbed her eyes from the drowsiness and heard the click of the front door. Before she could even leave the bed, the bedroom door got opened and Adrienne poked her head and smiled when she saw Sage was already up.
She moved closer to the bed and sat across from her with a smile that made Sage's heart flutter erratically inside her chest.
"Morning." said Adrienne tucking her hair behind her ear and Sage's smile widened at the contact.
"Morning." she said shyly and received a tender kiss on the lips then Adrienne pulled back.
"Slept well?"
"Mm-hmm." She nodded. "Thanks for letting me stay."
"Yeah, no problem. I just don't think it's the right time for you to get back to your apartment. You could stay here as long as you need, okay?"
"Yeah, thank you." she said softly. "Where's Freya?"
"Uh, I drove her to school. Believe it or not she asked me about you and it rolled off my tongue and told her that you're here, but sleeping." They chuckled. "She wanted to say her good morning to you, but if she did, we would be late for school. Freya gets excited around you." Adrienne smiled at Sage warmly. "I don't blame her."
A blush crept through her cheeks and she averted her eyes away from the soft gaze emanating from Adrienne's blue orbs.
"I don't wanna talk about this again," said Adrienne with a sigh and a voice that sounded stern. "but... do you remember anything, anything at all that could us identify the burglar?"
Sage got nervous all of a sudden and her stomach flipped. "Uhh... no. I don't. I'm sorry." She mumbled the last part.
Adrienne frowned a bit, but gave her a short nod, then got up from the bed. "If you do, just give me a call, then we could file a police report, okay? Although I think we should file a police report anyway. I'm heading to work now. What about you? What're you gonna do? Any plans?" She went to the closet and picked out her dress jacket and wore it.
Sage sighed internally. "You called Gina, right? And told her everything?"
"Well, not everything, but she's worried about you. You tell her the rest of the story."
"Then that's what I'll do today. I owe her. I made her anxious for a day and a half and it's not fair to her."
Adrienne moved around the bed and pecked Sage's forehead before she left the house.

Killing the engine, looking from the window at the apartment building, drumming her fingertips over the steering wheel. For all she knew, Adrienne sensed Sage lying to her. She found it hard to believe that it was just breaking and entering that startled Sage, but it was something deeper. The bruises her body modeled indicated that it was an act of vengeance and not for the sake of stealing money. The way Sage avoided mentioning the police in their talk, got Adrienne suspicious that there's more to the story.
She stepped out of the car, looking around her as she crossed the street, but stopped before entering the building when her phone rang in her pocket. She out the phone with a frown, then she answered it.
"Yeah?" said Adrienne with a sigh.
"Where are you?" asked Damien.
"Uhh, I'm running an errand."
"Now?! Adrienne you have to get here. We have a meeting in an hour."
"I'm not sure if I'll make it on time honestly, but you can take my place. What I'm doing is important. If it wasn't, I would be at my office by now."
