Sage woke up to the smell of the omelet being prepared in the kitchen and a small sound of laughs downstairs. She swung her feet to the side of the bed and got up slowly, running her fingers through her messy locks before going downstairs with sleepy eyes and a low yawn.

Adrienne was placing the omelet on two plates, and Freya was grabbing her backpack from the arm chair. Sage heard low muffled voices from the kitchen as she was making her way downstairs. She arrived and spotted Nina speaking with Adrienne about something related to dropping Freya off to school today which Nina agreed to do, gladly.

Adrienne felt a pair of eyes staring at her, so she turned her head slightly and her eyes away from Nina, and locked eyes with her girlfriend. Their lips curved up into a smile and Nina looked back and forth between the two lovebirds before smiling as well and calling out for Freya to come over, so that they could leave.

Sage smiled down at Freya when she tugged her sweatpants to get her attention and bid her goodbye before walking over to Nina.

"Hey, Sage." said Nina with a welcoming smile which Sage returned while Adrienne was finishing the last touches on the plate.

Adrienne dusted off her hands and walked over to Sage, pecking her temple and wrapping an arm around her shoulder, and instinctively Sage leaned into her. "Morning, Nina. Heading off so soon?"

"Yeah, your girlfriend here hired me as her daughter's chauffer."

Adrienne shook her head with a chuckle. "You're the one who offered, plus Macy goes to the same school."

Nina chuckled and took Freya's hand in hers. "Gotta go, ladies. See you later, Sage."

Sage gave her a nod with a smile before they left the house, then turned to Adrienne who smiled at her softly before pecking her lips softly.

"Breakfast?" She nodded again silently and sat on the stool while Adrienne served her breakfast. "How're you feeling today?" She stared at her, hands placed on the counter.

"I'm...," she stared at her plate before cracking a small smile. "better than yesterday actually. I'm thinking of going back to work."

Her eyebrows knitted slightly. "You sure? You don't wanna get some rest today. A day off?"

She shook her head while taking a bite. "On the contrary, I think work is what I need."

"But it stressed you out."

"Mm-hmm, but if I stayed here or at my apartment doing nothing, I'll get bored and I don't feel inspired to sketch anything."

"Hmm..." Adrienne stared at the counter as she ran her fingers over it slowly. "Fair enough. How about you go with me to work instead? I could use some help." She offered her a gentle smile and Sage's lips curled up into a smile before nodding. "Great." She drummed her fingers over the counter happily before leaning over and capturing Sage's lips softly. "Finish up your breakfast and then we could grab a cup of coffee on our way too."

...............................

A soft smile crept up her lips as her eyes travelled over the woman who was focusing on her work. Sage had been staring at her girlfriend for the past 10 minutes without uttering a single word while Adrienne was making some phone calls every now and then, and Sage helped her around with the things she could do.

A small crease appeared between Adrienne's eyebrows as she kept flipping between the papers back and forth, then placed her fingers on her lips, furrowing her eyebrows deeper which made Sage snap out of her trance.

"Something's wrong." said Adrienne, standing up and picking up her documents. She turned to Sage with a soft look. "Could you give me a few minutes? I really need to revise these contracts with Damien."
