You're safe now, Sage... You're safe.

The same words kept ringing over her head multiple times after three days from her departure and going back to her apartment. No longer prostitute, no longer stripper, no longer terrified of the rude neighbor, no longer forced against her will, no longer submissive. For the first time, Sage felt embraced by safety in her life that Adrienne gave with a welcoming heart. Years of torture and fear consuming her heart and soul are over once Adrienne became her light in the darkness.

The hazel blue eyes girl was washing the plates in the café, rubbing them with a sponge with an evident smile playing on her lips that brightened the room.

Her loyal friend couldn't wipe the smile on her lips either whenever she saw her friend smiling and talking about the woman she loves. Yes. loves. Sage may be oblivious about her feelings, but Gina spotted those hazel eyes murmuring the words to themselves on mentioning Adrienne Jones' name.

"So, who's gonna collect the rents now since that bastard is in jail?" asked Gina, leaning against the sink.

"We had a meeting in the building and we voted for Mr. Vern to be the rent collector. He's a decent respectable guy. He's one of the good guys." Sage wiped her hands when it was time for their lunch break. She released a sigh but a content sigh with a wide smile. "I can't believe it's finally over, Gina."

Gina flashed her a warm smile with glassy eyes. "I can't believe it either. If you reminisce all those dark moments of your life and see where you are now... You're just...," A tear ran down her face and Sage chuckled at her friend before wiping it for her. "You're a survivor Sage. I admire that about you. If I were you, I would've been dead by now. I don't think I could withstand all the dark times you went through since you were born. You're my role model." Gina placed a hand over her heart, smiling brightly at Sage.

"You know that I wouldn't have survived all those years without you by my side."

With a roll of her eyes, Sage chuckled at her. "True." said Gina and received a tight hug from her best friend. "Can we stop being drama queens and head for lunch now? I'm starving." She complained, pulling back from the hug sniffling, and Sage couldn't suppress the genuine small laugh.

"Sure, G. C'mon, I gotta tell you about Adrienne when she got locked up in jail."

They both chuckled before going to the back door and have lunch together with surely smiles on their faces as they shared glorious moments.

..................................................

"I heard you served time in jail." said Quinn smirking at Adrienne.

A laugh echoed through the room and made the British woman join her.

"Kinda, yeah. I only served time in jail for like seven hours or something. I bet Damien is the one who told you about it." She leaned on the desk, folding her arms together with a smile.

Quinn shrugged at her. "News travel fast."

"By Damien! I thought he was my secret keeper but I guess not." She chuckled at herself.

"He also told me that he bailed you out."

"Mmhm," She sighed. "As much as I want to tell you about my fairy tale and how I ended up behind bars, we have work to do. You didn't come here for bedtime stories."

"Bedtime stories are for kids; your stuff is for adults."

Adrienne shook her head at the British woman, a smile on her lips. "I can't believe that you can be both strict and fun at the same time. Anyway... you have the documents?"
