Right after lunch, Theo was dreading the moment. Bullets of sweat on his forehead he kept on trying to wipe off with the back of his hand. Jeremy noticed that so he scooped out a handkerchief from his pocket and handed it over to his king.
Theo took it and wipe his face off with it. He noticed the smell of it so when he tried to glance at Jeremy and he was looking away, he quickly sniffed the handkerchief and it smells so nice. He immediately put it down when Jeremy was about to catch him—he's so glad he didn't.
They were waiting for the royal council to arrive and that doesn't take them long when the officers announced their arrival. Theo prepared himself. He stood up and watched the councilmen enter the room.
As they greeted the king, they didn't waste a single moment and got right ahead to the purpose of their visit. They discuss what Theo should do and say in front of a recording.
"Recording? I thought I was gonna say a statement—I was thinking of a live speech... not a recording..."
"It's the safest bet for now, Your Highness," one of the councilmen said.
Even though Theo feels a little off about the decision they went on, he has no other option but to follow their lead. Their visit has a purpose and Theo wants the chaos to lessen because the image of the monarchy has been on a ramp of fire these days. It's either his speech can make a huge difference or it will cause more trouble that everyone's trying to avoid. But the goal here is to make the public believe that the new monarch who will assume the throne in less than three months is the rightful heir to the throne.
The twenty-year-old Theodore Albrecht is the king they deserve.
"We'll give you a moment before we start, Your Highness," one of the councilmen said.
Theo could feel his nerves. The words he tried to remember in his head scrambled up and making it worst for him. Jeremy walked closer to him and put his hand on his shoulder. Theo lifts his head up to search for Jeremy's eyes.
"You'll do great," Jeremy said. "You can do it."
Theo lowered his head accompanied by a long deep breath. He was trying to calm himself down, but when the councilmen came back announcing that they should start, he couldn't feel anything but his heart racing so fast.
Jeremy stepped back and watched everything unfold.
The councilmen advised Theo on whatever he needed to do. Theo fixed his posture and when he glanced at Jeremy, he tried to make him put a smile on his face even a little one. His speech should make an impact on the public. Letting the public know he is at the military camp before his coronation could be good or bad for the monarch's reputation.
People don't believe Theo's ability to lead a country that's why chaos was happening left and right. With his speech, it should make a difference and that's how it should happen.
