Seven years ago.
Thirteen years old Theodore got home from an event they attended to. They went into a public school where the King was invited. His father brought him there to witness how the other children went to school—which is the opposite of what he does.
Theo has been homeschooled since he started studying. He got a lot of questions there since he wasn't able to go to school and play with other teens. He even asked his father if he could go to school and that he could make a lot of friends there.
"Why can't I go to school like they do, Mom?" Theo asked.
"It's best for us to have you homeschooled."
"Why? I don't get it..."
"You might not get it for now, but you will," his mom said. "But isn't it exciting to study at home?"
"Yeah... but, I think it was more fun when I got to school and play around with my friends."
"Have you got a chance to meet people there?"
Theo nodded. "Yes, and they were so good to me. I feel like I wanted to go there, too. Can I go there?"
"It is a public school, dear..."
"Wouldn't be the same thing to a private school?" he asked. "They go to school, too, right?"
"Yes, they do... but this is what your father decide for you."
"If I go to high school, can I go to an actual school?"
His mom caressed his head and smile. "We'll see what your father will say when the time comes."
Theo put a thin smile on his face. He doesn't know what to say. He's still a kid and his decision and opinion might not matter to his parents as of this moment, but he believes his words will transcend into much more greatness in the future.
"I'll be going to my room..."
"I think it's best, hun... you should go take a rest."
Before he left, he kissed his little Isla on the cheeks. Theo has three siblings, Victoria who was four years younger, then followed Hendrew who is five years old, and the new member of the family who just turned one this year.
Theo and his siblings are all homeschooled and never got the chance to go to an actual school and the reason that fuels his aspiration not to be homeschooled anymore is quite impossible. Even though he would want it, they wouldn't let it happen.
He heard at some point in the conversation between his parents that going out isn't safe. He has no idea what sort of things he had to watch out for. But all those things were out of his hands, all the decisions made for him, if not by his mother, it was ordered by the king.
Life may look charming and elegant in the way people look at the royal family, but it was the opposite of what he was feeling. It's dull, suffocating, and far from being perfect.
