"Come on over here, give me a kiss," Jeremy ordered.
Theo giggled as he come closer to Jeremy giving him the kiss he asked for. The bond he had with Jeremy flourished as things goes on. Both never had an idea things will go down the other way when only it was supposed to be a job. A duty to protect the king at all cost—it was what he was doing, but Theo has another plan and Jeremy fell for it.
Jeremy put his arms over his shoulder while his head is resting on his chest. They could only possibly do this and get so intimately close to each other when they were alone and that was in his guard's private room.
Theo's hand was inside Jeremy's shirt just trying to feel his skin.
"You'll be crowned in less than a month," Jeremy started the conversation. "You know what would happen between. This cannot happen..."
"Why not?" Theo questioned. "Just because I'm a king it doesn't mean us cannot happen anymore."
"That's the thing, Theodore. You are the king and I cannot interfere in having a relationship with you."
"We already have one," Theo insisted. "This? Between us. You're my personal royal guard... it is a relationship. So, what do you call it anyway?"
"A job," Jeremy didn't utterly hesitate to state those words. "It's my duty, a responsibility that cannot be neglected, or else, I'll lose my job—possibly everything."
Jeremy observed how Theo fell in silence. What happened to them the other night is something the world cannot know. In this four-walled room where they could be themselves and be free to do whatever they want—who they wanted to be.
"I'm happy when I'm with you..." Theo finally found his words. "If we could make it work—"
Jeremy interrupted him before he could complete his thoughts. "As much as I would love to continue what we are doing, we cannot, Theodore. I cannot let it happen."
"That's such a..."
"A, what?"
"Never mind..."
"No, I would like to hear it."
"It doesn't matter," Theo said and moved away from getting so close to Theo. "I think I'm heading back to the quarters now."
"Hey," Jeremy called him but he didn't look back.
Theo was about to leave the room without saying anything again, but he noticed the guitar sitting in the corner.
"Is this yours?" Theo turned around and asked. "Do you play this?"
Jeremy stood up from bed and grabbed the guitar. "This isn't mine. I borrowed it from Dan, but I do play. If you would stay here with me, I would love to play a song for you."
Theo was torn apart when Jeremy gave him that option.
"Fine... let me see what you prepared for me."
