"Chobei! CHOBEI!"
The Bandit King suddenly woke up to see himself bonded to a bed with Mizuho in the same situation as him. They were surrounded by multiple plants with some in hanging pots with Mizuho's sword near a tree.
"What... is this place?"
"You've awoken... humans." Rien said, appearing with a more feminine body.
"Mind explaining this?"
"Your bodies are invaluable. A fusion of Tao so perfect typically requires advanced. But in the process of being made Tan, you both achieved a blend of Tao and your human Taos came out on top... A true miracle. One not seen in a millennium. You two may be the final key to completing my research..."
Rien then removed her coat, only to reveal her nude body as both humans stared in shock, making Mizuho more flustered with a hint of envy.
"But even with all that, you just want a good time, huh?"
"No, not quite. This is Bochu Jutsu." Rien said as she kneeled down onto Chobei's bed. "According to the Tao cycle, your Metal Tao can be rejuvenated by my Earth Tao if we do this. This means that the girl's Water Tao would be weakened by mine, so I'll get Gui Fa since they have the same one as yours."
As the woman began to hover above the Bandit King, he interrupted her with his voice. "Whoa, there. Is this really happening?"
"The effects of Bochu Jutsu will be lackluster if both parties aren't in harmony... so tell me-- how do you like it?"
Without a single thought, Mizuho broke free of her bonds, grabbed her katana, and pulled it out against Rien. "Don't you dare touch him."
What am I doing?! Why am I threatening this powerful person?!
Chobei looked at her with amazement. Damn... I like this side to her...
"Don't worry, young lady." Rien replied. "Bochu Jutsu not only elevates Tao... The exchange also allows us to understand one another's Tao that much better."
Mizuho glared at her. "I don't care. We would like some answers."
"I agree with Mizuho." Chobei said as he freed his arms. "What's with this island? And what is it you things do here?"
"Fine." Rien said reluctantly as she sat down. "On this island, we research... the outer way of Tan, or what you people call the elixir of life. The island is a laboratory for experimentation. A place to manufacture and observe life made immortal... a boxed garden."
Chobei pulled her hair from the back as he leaned over Rien with Mizuho standing next to him, preparing her katana. The Bandit King spoke. "So all those monsters out there are artificial creations of you and the others?"
"Indeed. Every experiment has its purpose. The Hoko, or tree people, allowed us to observe immortality in practice.... Given their loose understanding of the notion of death, we created the Soshin deities... to instruct the Hoko on morality. To preserve order in their communities."
