I continued to glance at Zayn every so often as I sat there in my seat. I’m not sure why I kept doing it, maybe because what was going on around me hadn’t interested me any longer. Besides, seeing the look on his face as I caught his eye was far more entertaining!

Of course, he tried to make it seem casual; he would look at me, notice me looking back, shift his eyes briefly from one side to the other as though stuck on what to do next, then quickly turn to his band mates for composure as they mindlessly carried on talking.

But I knew that his look was far from casual. Zayn wasn’t looking at the other girls like he was looking at me. The look he was giving me was far more curious. He would especially scan the row I was sitting on to find me; and even when I caught a glimpse of his eyes, they carried a thoughtful dark look to them.  As though, I brought an intriguing attention to his mind that needed his full regard. Maybe, I was just over thinking the situation, but he definitely seemed distracted by me and that was very obvious trait to notice in someone.

Anyway, I didn’t really take too much notice as to what I could possibly be doing to distract him, as it didn’t quite affect me at the time. But it certainly was a curious thing to notice.

After what seemed hours, but it truly had only been twenty minutes of One Direction talking, our headmaster retook centre of the stage to make an announcement.

“It’s been great having you all on our stage this morning,” He stated. There were several gasps of panic as people began thinking that the handsome five were soon going to leave. Monroe was clasping her hands tightly together, looking perplexed. “I know how much excitement your presence has brought to our school, and I’m sure you’re all used to girls cheering for you. I only wish I had that response when I walked on stage to begin assembly.”

There was an awkward chuckle among us all, as our headmaster tried to make a joke.

“We’re very thankful for our fans,” Liam took the lead in conversation, “I mean, we wouldn’t be here without you all.” He flashed a warm smile as he looked at us.

“But it’s not all over yet!” Harry beamed, as he began noticing the sadness that was circulating the room. “We want to take this opportunity to meet all you beautiful people,” he teased as a raspy chuckle escaped his lips when he saw girls blushing, “as a thank you for your consideration.”

And I swear, as he said that his eyes rested on mine for a short moment before offering me a private smile; one that was just aimed at myself.

I froze in my seat, not quite sure how to react. To my relief, hardly anyone noticed but Whitney along with Monroe had, and they gave me a puzzled look. Perhaps Harry done it because of my impoliteness earlier; he wanted to make me feel ashamed. But that smile he gave me was a kind and amiable one, not bitter at all.

Again, I didn’t want to take much notice of it. I was only overthinking everything due to what Monroe had told me last night. I think you’re gonna capture the boys’ attention, had propped into my mind and had me questioning.

I remember startling at the thought. I certainly did not want to capture One Direction’s attention; at least not in the way Monroe had commented. I simply wasn’t the type of girl that liked the spotlight. I was a private person, never took part in people’s business and usually kept all things to myself- that is if Monroe hadn’t pressured me to reveal my secrets. But even then, I tried not to spill too much information. For instance, when I had my first boyfriend; Monroe wouldn’t stop asking me questions.

“Who is it?”

“I know him, don’t I?”

“Oh my gosh, it’s Nick isn’t it? I saw the way he was looking at you.”
