"The girl who didn't want to be my girlfriend, we meet again." Harry's eyes narrowed at me teasingly as soon as I opened the door to greet him. Upon hearing the words, I rolled my eyes and didn't allow the blush to creep to my cheeks from the embarrassing memory.
"You couldn't have been serious that day; it was so out of the blue, and you know it."
"Dion, you have hurt my feelings." A dramatic arm raised over his chest as he looked at me with saddened eyes. I knew he was being sarcastic, so I just didn't add anything on the matter.
Mintues later, dad showed up behind me and beamed when he saw Harry at the door.
"Harry, son. How're ya?" He moved past me and took Harry's hand in his larger one as he patted his shoulder, and listened to his reply. An involuntary smile made its way to my lips, as I saw how much my dad actually liked him and I remebered how he had wanted me to be with him, what felt like ages ago.
After laughing at one of Harry's jokes, dad finally turned to me and grinned. "Have fun tonight, your ma and I will be waitin' for-"
"Wait!" Mum's voice rushed from the downstairs, she greeted Harry quickly and then turned to me. "Don't forget your cardigan." She smiled and placed a kiss on my cheek. "Good luck on the show, Harry! Send my regards to Zayn!" She called out and waved at us from the front door as I got into Harry's car.
It was the a week before the summer holiday, when Zayn had texted to tell me they were coming to England to do the UK leg of their tour. We had stayed in contact, although not as much as you might think, but enough to make me want to invite me to their show. It seemed he had listend to my words, even though he was quite reluctant at the start, but once he was flying around the world he seemed to finally have a distraction. I was pleased; I knew what we had was temporary and it was never going to work in the long run. I preferred to stay friends with him, and when I heard that he had gotten a girlfriend, I was honestly very glad for him. Especially, when I learned that the girl was also part of a band. It made me realise, that he indeed just needed someone on his level. I wasn't cut out for that life, and it no longer saddened me.
I was supposed to go to the show in the evening, but when Harry got hold of my number and texted me begging me to show up before, I couldn't help but agree. It knew it would be a nice surpirse to see the boys before I was actually planned to. With the news of Zayn's new girlfriend, the manager was no longer bothered about my prescence around him, and I was no longer apprehensive about my showing up. Besides, I knew that this meeting would be very different as our feelings would no longer be the same.
So, when Harry finally got in the driver's seat I was honestly buzzing to finally see this awaited show of theirs. He wanted to personally take me to the venue, as he just couldn't wait to see me.
"How many girls hearts am I breaking right now that I'm sitting in your car?" I joked, as I looked over at him.
Harry chuckled in response and ran a hand through his curls that were now longer from the last time I had seen him.
"You guys are huge now." I added as I looked ahead on the road, "You must all feel so proud."
"Of course!" He muttered. "It's incredible how far we've come. Never in a million years would I have imagined this outcome whatsoever. It's crazy!"
"I figure your next tour will be around stadiums!"
"Nah, I don't think that'll happen." He replied modestly.
"Never say never!" I replied in Justin Bieber's voice as we both burst into laughter.
Once, we finally reached the O2 arena, we saw queues of people already lining up outside. I couldn't believe the crowd, but gladly, Harry knew a discrete way to get inside without being seen.
"I swear the show doesn't start until six?"
"Our fans are very committed," he winked at me as we got out of the car. I thought about Monroe and how perhaps, she would have been among those girls if she wasn't away with her boyfriend for the week.
Once backstage, it felt overwhelming when I saw the boys come and greet me. Zayn's grin widenned when he picked me up and spun me around in a friendly way, might I add.
"It's so nice to see you, Dion!" He said as looked at me in the eyes. "You look great!"
"So do you!" I couldn't help the blush on my cheeks to appear, "This place is huge!" I changed the subject as I looked around and told all the boys.
"Yeah, it's massive." Niall added.
"You guys nervous?" I asked after the boys had come back from changing into their opening show outfits and huddled around in a circle.
"Yeah, but we're buzzing as well." Liam replied as he rubbed his hands together in excitement.
It wasn't until a girl's voice in the background that the thought of meeting Zayn's girlfriend, suddenly dawned on me. I turned and allowed a smile to appear on my lips as I met the blonde girl that was approaching the boys. She went straight to Zayn and pecked him on the lips, and I turned away quickly. I'd be lying if I said it didn't feel weird; a small pang in my chest was felt but I knew that this was how it should be. Feeling like that, was normal.
Besides, when I finally got introduced to Perrie, she seemed absolutely lovely and I couldn't help but feel even more happy about the person Zayn had chosen to be with. She was funny and pretty, and just perfect as a whole -definitely fit for Zayn.
The show was absolutely amazing, I had goose bumps appear on my skin at the end of the show because they had decided to end it with What Makes You Beautiful. The song that brought back so many memories and smiles, and at the end, I saw both Harry and Zayn turn towards where I was sitting and sing the last line to me for all time's sakes. And in that moment, I let the tears fall and grin at them, as it was the most beautiful thing ever.
I was so glad I had met them, and so proud of what they had become. And most of all, I was so thankful for them for having made my life filled with such wonderful memories only death will make me forget.
The next day, I received a parcel that had a note stuck onto it. Eagerly, I ripped the paper and found the Harry Potter box set in my hands. A confused expression fell on my face, until I read the note that was on top of it, and then everything made sense.
Dear Dion,
When you open each DVD don't be surprised to find that they are not in the correct order. I actually did that on purpose, because I want you to know that I ended up watching the series from back to front like you had told me once before. It was actually interesting to watch it that way. Made sense what you were trying to tell me that day, ha ha.
See, I never forgot.
Just as I'll never forget you. You'll forever be on my mind.
Yours,
Zayn.
THE END END.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I needed to end it with Zayn's words, so yeah that's the end. No, there won't be a sequel, sorry.
Gah, it seems like forever ago when I first started this fanfic and now I can finally put that little tick next to the title. It's quite sad, that it's ended, but I hope you have all enjoyed the story!!!
Thank you all so so so so so so much for sticking by it, and supporting it by commenting and voting. You guys are wonderful and I love you all so much.
I also want to bring another fanfic to your attention; my Niall fanfic called 'Cigarettes and Hickies'. I personally think it's much better than this, so you won't be disappointed. Hopefully.
It's quite a dark fanfic though, the girl is the troubled one and yeah she's kinda making Niall's life hell.
It would mean so much if you guys added that to your libraries, as it'd be super rad to see some (if not all) of you guys supporting that story too. But, be warned, that story contains strong language and smut, so just a head's up that it's completely different to this one right here.
And finally, THANK YOU AGAIN. I LOVE YOU ALL. xo
