The morning light painted a soft glow across the corridors of the Salvatore School, illuminating Josie Saltzman as she hurried toward her father's office. Clutching a stack of papers close to her chest, she felt a mix of excitement and trepidation. The weight of her discovery tugged at her mind, urging her to unravel the mysteries that lay before her. She had spent over two days looking over the results of Dan's supernatural test.
And, a hypothesis came. She thinks she wants to relay it to her father first though.
Approaching Alaric's office, Josie paused for a moment outside the door. She took a deep breath, trying to steady her racing heart before softly knocking. The door swung open, revealing her father, Alaric Saltzman, engrossed in his work. A warm smile crept across his face as he looked up and met her gaze.
"Dad, I have something important to share with you," Josie said, her voice filled with a mix of anticipation and reverence.
Alaric motioned for her to enter, curiosity dancing in his eyes. Josie stepped into the office, her uniform neatly pressed, and carefully handed him the stack of papers. Alaric skimmed through them, his brows furrowing as he absorbed the information contained within.
"What have you discovered, Josie?" Alaric inquired, his voice tinged with a fatherly pride.
Josie's eyes sparkled with excitement as she spoke. "During Dan's supernatural test, something remarkable happened. He is not a werewolf nor a vampire, so that leaves one main factor, magic. The more we went through the test, the more he exhibited the signs without him knowing. And, get this, every time he exhibited signs of magic, his eyes turned a vibrant shade of blue. It's like nothing I've ever seen before."
Alaric leaned forward, his interest piqued, a distant knowledge in his mind, unlocking. "Blue eyes, you say? That's certainly intriguing. But what does it mean?"
Is it really? he thought as he continued to listen to Josie.
Josie paused for a moment, her mind racing with possibilities. "I'm still not sure but over the past two days, I've been digging through our family's archives, mom's research, the library, I've been searching for answers. And... I found something but I'm not sure especially since Dan, himself, does not remember his past. But, I believe he has a connection to a forgotten lineage, a long-lost coven that faded into the shadows over time. Their name has been crossed out throughout all the books but their abilities, their figures were kept. It was if they wanted to be remembered but they didn't want people to know who they were. But the thing is, they possessed unique abilities, tied to the very essence of the moon. And, their distinct feature, is a greyish blue eyes."
Alaric's eyes widened, a mixture of surprise and curiosity flickering in their depths. "A lost coven? How is Dan connected?"
Josie bit her lip, her voice barely above a whisper. "I don't have all the answers yet, but there's something about his features, his powers...his eyes. They resemble the ancient tales, the descriptions of magic that have been listed in our books. Their name was purposely hidden, I can see that, but the more that I read it, the more I believe that he's connected to it, somewhat."
Alaric's gaze met hers, a mixture of pride and concern etched upon his face. "Josie, promise me you'll tread carefully. The mysteries of the supernatural world can be treacherous. We must protect our students, even as we unravel their pasts."
"I promise, Dad," Josie replied, determination burning in her eyes. "I'll do everything I can to uncover the truth while keeping Dan and everyone else safe."
As the weight of their conversation settled upon them, a knock at the office door interrupted their thoughts. Startled, Josie and Alaric turned their heads simultaneously to see Hope Mikaelson standing in the doorway, her expression a curious mix of concern and intrigue.
Hope's voice was laced with genuine worry as she asked, "Is everything alright? I couldn't help but overhear part of your conversation."
Josie exchanged a quick glance with her father before addressing Hope. "We were just discussing some fascinating discoveries about Dan, Hope. It seems there's more to him than meets the eye. But we need to tread carefully."
Hope's eyes widened with a mix of curiosity and concern. She asked with panic, "What do you mean? Is there something wrong with him?"
Josie paused for a moment, her gaze shifting to her father before returning to Hope. "We're not sure yet, but there's something mysterious about his origins. It's as if he carries a hidden past within him, one that may hold answers to his identity."
Hope's brows furrowed, a mixture of worry and curiosity playing across her features. "If there's anything I can do to help, please let me know. Dan is... important to me."
Josie nodded, a flicker of understanding passing between them. "I appreciate that, Hope. We'll continue to investigate and keep everyone informed. For now, let's support Dan and ensure his safety."
As Hope left the office, Josie couldn't shake the feeling of unease that lingered within her. A hint of fear for her new friend, the connection she felt growing stronger, tugged at her heart. She knew that their journey to uncover the truth would be filled with challenges, but she was determined to protect those she cared for, even if it meant facing the shadows that lurked beneath their surface.
Later that day, as the sun began its descent, Dan found solace in the quiet corners of the school's library. Surrounded by ancient tomes and the comforting scent of worn pages, he immersed himself in the knowledge that lay within the books. It was here that he felt a sense of belonging, a respite from the mysteries that shrouded his own identity.
Hope Mikaelson's voice echoed in his mind, their time together at that lake, still vivid in his mind, stirring emotions he had long forgotten. He couldn't help but wonder if there was more to their connection than met the eye, if the threads of their lives were woven together by a fate yet to be revealed.
Lost in his thoughts, Dan turned another page, his eyes scanning the words before him. The library embraced him with its timeless wisdom, offering a glimpse into a world where answers awaited. And as the evening cast its gentle shadows, Dan delved deeper into the pages, seeking knowledge and understanding amidst the enigmatic tapestry of his own existence. He opened another book and started to read when he sees the name.
Klaus Mikaelson: The Great Evil
"Kid, promise me, promise me that you'll protect her."
" You died because of the Mikaelsons, that is all you need to know."
A loud bang resonated in the library as Dan fell unconscious from his chair. The journey had just begun, and Dan was determined to uncover the truth, even if it meant confronting the shadows of his past and discovering a destiny that would forever alter his path.
