"Are you ready sweetie?", my mom asked opening the door for me.
"Yes mom. This is so unbelievable", I replied.
I was finally getting to go to my dream college. I honestly didn't know how to react to this big of a change. But I knew I had the best parents to celebrate it with.
"Of course she's ready, she was up all night doing research on the place", my dad laughed.
"Haha very funny dad", I said rolling my eyes.
He grabbed my arm and pulled me in for a hug.
"We're so proud of you honey. And we know you're going to make us proud."
I cried. He was right. Whatever I did, they promised to be proud of me.
"Thanks dad", I said.
My mom tapped my shoulder. In her hand was my diary.
"How did you find this?!", I asked quickly taking it from her.
"We thought you might need it for your next journey, and Jaden never disappoints when it comes to finding things."
I couldn't help but smile.
"Oh he's going to get it when I come back", I laughed.
"Too late. Tag! You're it!", Jaden said touching my back.
I ran behind him.
"Oh, you little sneak."
I stopped chasing him because I was running out of breath and he was much faster than me. But I was really going to miss him. My annoying 8 year old brother was an important part of my life and my success. If he hadn't been there when I wanted to drop out of high school, I think I probably would have. He was always there to check up on me and support me. I loved him.
"Ok guys, we gotta hit the road. Weston Lake is roughly 45-50 minutes away and traffic's pretty heavy", my dad said.
Me and my brother looked at each other and laughed.
"Alright Dad."
After a couple minutes we were on the road.
"Ok, so I spoke to Mrs. Sanchez, the admissions agent and she said they will have your paper work ready when you get there", my mom said.
"Ok, cool."
"Did they say anything about the dorm and who she's going to be rooming with?", my dad asked reading my mind.
"Yes, they said her name is...umm...Alicia Tillman", my mom replied.
"Alicia Tillman eh? She sounds nice", my dad said.
"I hope she is", added my mom.
"I'm sure she'll be a great roommate" I said.
I knew my mom wasn't too fond of me having a roommate since we decided we would pay extra for me to have a room all by myself. But of course, all of that has changed.
"Anyways, I heard that they had a spirit team", my dad said.
"A spirit team?", I asked confused.
"Yes, a spirit team is like a dance team but for the football season", my mom explained.
"Oh."
"Yeah, that's why it's only a one semester course."
"Sounds interesting", I said.
"Would it maybe be something you might want to try?", my dad asked looking back at me.
"Maybe", I replied.
