I woke up to the sound of slow hip hop music. I rose up and stretched. It was 7:30 in the morning. I couldn't lie. I'm probably going to wake up at this time for a while considering the fact that this is the time I had to wake up to open the cafe with my dad all summer.

"Good morning sleepy head", said Alicia.

"What are you doing up so early?", I asked yawning.

"Girl I always wake up at this time. My class doesn't start until 9:00 but I like to go to the cafe to meet up with my friends before I go."

I got out of bed.

"Could I join you guys?", I asked rubbing my arm.

"Sure! The more, the merrier!", she replied.

I smiled.

"Thanks."

"No problem. Me and my homegirls are always up to make new friends."

Hearing her say the word homegirls made me think of my trio I had in school. It was Me, Taylor, and Claire. We were all close, but the trio became a duo when Claire had to move to Florida. Then it was just me and Taylor.

"What are you thinking about?", Alicia asked staring at me.

"Nothing", I said nervously.

"Okkkk."

She walked over to her side of the room and began applying her makeup. Her side of the room was taken up by more cosmetics and girly things than I could imagine.

"Do you dress up a lot?", I asked her.

"What do you mean?", she replied.

"Do you like to dress fancy a lot?"

She looked at me and smiled.

"I would have a panic attack if one of my dresses went missing. But what can I say, I'm a girly girl and I like to dress up. My friends say I go all out, but I just see it as me expressing myself to the fullest extent."

I went up to next to her and started posing in her mirror.

"Like this", I laughed.

"Girl, you're funny", she said posing with me.

"This is what true beauty looks like. And there's nothing more prettier than natural beauty."

I knew she was talking about me. But to be fair, she was just as pretty as me without her makeup. I've never been the type to wear makeup. My parents said I never needed it. And that is why I always blush when a guy gives me a compliment. I mean, he isn't lying.

"You're pretty without makeup too, you know?", I said.

"Thanks girl."

I went over to my dresser to look for an outfit to wear today. I was a pretty basic girl so I didn't care to much about going all out. I searched some tank tops and came across my blue sweater my grandmother made for me last Christmas. It was the most beautiful gift I've ever received.

"How about this Alicia?", I asked holding up the sweater.

Her eyes grew big.

"Oh my god yes! That is such a pretty color!", she replied.

I smiled and grabbed some jeans from the bottom drawer.

"This fit it is then."

After about ten minutes I was ready to go out with Alicia to hang with her friends. I was a little nervous, considering the fact that I'm new to the school. So to calm myself down, I called my mom.
