"B127 right?", Alicia asked me.
"Right."
"Ok, it's this way", she replied taking a left.
I was so nervous. I was finally going to my first class at Weston and the butterflies were kicking back in.
"Here it is. B127. Mrs. Gardner", Alicia said handing me my schedule.
"Thanks girl", I said.
"No problem. Remember if you need me, I'll be in upstairs A wing", she replied.
I smiled and entered the classroom.
A short woman with glasses and a pantsuit turned around and looked at me.
"Yes, how may I help you?", she asked.
"I'm Megan Archie."
She went over to her desk and looked at her white booklet.
"Yes, Mrs. Archie. I have you in seat 19", she said.
I went over and looked for seat 19. I could feel all of my classmates staring at me. It made me really uncomfortable.
When I finally found my seat I quickly sat down and began unpacking. Mrs. Gardner began teaching her next lesson. "The Impact of Human Structure". The lesson title seemed very direct considering human structure is one of the main components of Sociology. I grabbed my textbook and turned to the lesson. I had everything but a pencil. In my mind I was thinking it's just a pencil, but my actions said otherwise. I started sweating and panicking because I didn't have anything to write with. I had forgotten my pencil pouch back at my dorm. I sighed and grew frustrated.
"Do you need a pencil?", a charming voice asked.
I looked beside me to see a gorgeous guy with brown hair and a Weston Lake Patriots Leather-men Jacket on. Wait he was on the football team? I was so mesmerized by his looks that I completely forgot the question he asked me.
"Huh", I said.
He laughed.
"I asked if you needed a pencil. It looks like you don't have one", he said.
"Oh yes, I do, I'm sorry", I replied.
"You're good", he said handing me a pencil.
"Thanks."
"No problem", he smiled.
He was probably one of the cutest guys I've ever seen. And he was taking sociology? What was a guy as good looking as him doing taking a class about the basic functions of human life?
Before I could ask what his name was, Mrs. Gardner told us to close our books and work on the lesson packet. Now don't get me wrong. I'm an all A student. But catching up especially in a fast paced environment like this was going to be tricky. I kinda blocked out the lesson looking into the eyes of the guy next to me. And although the was extremely cute, I couldn't let myself get too attached to him. Not now, not ever.
"Ok class, when you're done with the lesson packet, please turn it into the basket. It shouldn't take you long because you had time to work on it in class yesterday", Mrs. Gardner told us.
I quickly finished the packet hoping I would slide by with at least a B. It didn't take long for the class to start turning them in so I blended in with them. On the way back to my seat I saw the cute guy who sat next to me talking to a girl with blonde hair and a white blouse. She was laughing and giggling and twirling her hair. It hurt me. And at that moment I kinda knew how Jayla felt when she saw her boyfriend being rubbed by another girl. Except, this guy wasn't my boyfriend. He was just a nice guy who offered me a pencil.
"So are we gonna hang out later babe", the girl said.
"Yeah", he said caressing her face.
Babe? They were together? How stupid do I look? I should've known better to think that a guy like him would be single.
I walked by them and accidentally knocked down the girls folder.
"I'm so sorry", I said picking it up for her.
She gave me a mean look.
"Excuse you!", she said jerking it from me.
The guy touched her shoulder.
"Emma, do you have to be so mean? She said she was sorry", he said.
"Brandon, she literally came and purposely knocked down my folder", she said with an attitude."
He rolled his eyes.
"I'm sorry about that", he said to me.
"Don't apologize to her. She should be the one apologizing for knocking down my folder!", Emma said.
I don't know who she was. Or what game she thought she was running, but I have had enough attitude from girls today. I calmly walked back to my seat.
"Yeah you better walk away!", she yelled behind me.
"Babe, calm down", Brandon told her.
She sighed and rubbed his arm.
"I'm sorry baby", she said looking down.
He lifted her chin up and kissed her.
The sight of this made my stomach churn. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. A spoiled, bratty chick who happens to date a hot football player.
"Ok listen up. We have just a couple more minutes left until the bell rings. Your ticket out of here is to give me two facts you learned today", Mrs. Gardner said handing everyone a piece of paper.
"Oh geez. Two facts? I can barely remember the lesson", I thought to myself.
After a minute of thinking, I was able to write something down on the paper.
"Ok times up. As you exit bring them up", Mrs. Gardner said.
A couple seconds later the bell rang.
I packed up my stuff and handed her my paper. In return she smiled.
"Keep studying and focusing on the lesson and you'll be just fine", she said.
I nodded and continued down the hallway.
I didn't have Alicia's phone number so I couldn't call her. I got out my schedule and decided to find my next class by myself. I had to admit. My first day hasn't exactly went as I expected, but maybe it will get better as the day goes by. I just had to keep my head up and go with the flow.
