Chapter 9

"That's great honey", my mom said.

"Yeah, and Alicia is such a good roommate", I replied.

"Wow, I'm so happy to hear that!"

"And your father is too!", my dad yelled from the back ground.

I've been talking with my mom and dad for over twenty minutes now. It was crazy how much I missed them despite this only being my second day at Weston.

"Well I'm going to let you guys go. I love you. Tell Jaden I love him too", I said.

"We love you too honey."

"Bye."

"Bye!"

Alicia threw a sock at me.

"What?", I asked.

"Now Megan, you know you wrong for that", she replied.

"What are you talking about?"

"You didn't tell me you talked to Brandon Johnson yesterday while I was at practice", she said.

My face turned red.

"It was nothing like that", I said totally lying.

"Mhmm, cuz my friend Bryson said otherwise."

"Oh."

"Ohhhh", she said mocking me.

"Ok ok, we talked. But he came up to me", I said.

She gave me a side eye.

"Ok Mrs. Megan Archie. Don't you go out here falling for his tricks", she said.

"I won't", I smiled.

"Good."

She changed the song on the radio while we got ready for class.

"I like Bruno Mars", she said.

"Wow, really?"

"Yep. You can count on me like one, two, three. I'll be there", she started singing.

"And I know when I need it, I can count on you like four, three, two. You'll be there", I said singing the next verse.

She grabbed my hand and we started dancing and singing to Count on Me by Bruno Mars.

The time I spent with Alicia was never dull. When I needed a friend she was always there. I know they say you can't get a new best friend in two days, but that might just be the case with me and Alicia. The nonchalant, sassy duo you never thought you needed.

"This is so fun", I said dancing around.

"I know right", Alicia replied.

A minute later, Alicia's phone rang.

I paused the music.

"Hello?"

"Hello, who is this?, Alicia replied

After hearing the person's name, Alicia hung up and phone and ran into the bathroom.

I was so confused. I ran to the bathroom and knocked on the door.

"Alicia?"

"Go away!", she yelled.

I have never heard her so upset.

"What's going on? Who was that?", I asked trying to get answers.

"No one."

"Alicia please come out and talk to me", I begged.

She came out and hugged me.

"It's him", she cried.

"Who?"
