Secret Fire

~Chapter 11~

She wasn't what I expected. She was beautiful like Ria said the Deathsinger called her. And she was friendly, and kind to everyone. She walks over to me and smiles.

"Hi! What's your name?" She asks kindly.

"Uh, Senn." I say and she shakes my hand while smiling gently as Ria steps forward.

"May we ask who fired the arrow?" Ria asks and raises her eyebrows as Masani looks at her arrow. "Did you Masani?"

She shakes her head.

"I was looking for Senn after he left so I didn't have time to fire an arrow, and the arrow came from the direction the Deathsinger was facing, I was to the side." She says and shakes her head.

"Addy fired it." Brayden suddenly pips up. Everyone looks towards him and Achillean as Addy blinks while sitting beside Hubris.

"Yeah, she saw that the Deathsinger and Tygren were going to kill you and she fired an arrow at them. But she knew the Deathsinger had incredible reflexes and was able to catch it. But when he was wondering who fired it you two had enough time to get away." The Tidesinger explains. Ria raises her eyebrows then looks over at Addy.

"Well, all we can say is thank you." She says. Addy smiles and nods.

"And you have incredible skill." I say and she smiles warmly.

"Thank you, Senn." She says and then nods before flicking her ear slightly, clearly troubled. 

"What is it?" I ask.

"Nothing." She says almost immediately then gets up. "I'm not feeling to good, I think I need to go to sleep now."

We watch as Addy walks towards her tent, flicking her tail once before opening the flap and walking in. 

"Is she ok?" I ask and furrow my eyebrows.

"Yes. She just has a past with the Deathsinger that we don't talk about." Brayden says and puts his hands near the fire before Achillean pulls his hands away again, Brayden looks at him with a dull expression then pulls his hands away and eats a piece of steak. Achillean sighs as I get up and walk towards the river, sitting down near the bank as they start talking again, I hear footsteps behind me and look back to see the Tidesinger standing behind me.

"Mind if I sit with you?" He asks and I scootch over slightly shaking my head.

"Yeah, sure." I say slightly nervously. he sits down beside me and looks into the water.

"So it's Senn right?" He asks and I nod.

"Yes." 

"So I take it that you were raised in Sendaria? Correct?" He asks and raises his eyebrows as I nod again.

"Yeah, that's right, Sendaria... there's nowhere quite like it. There's nowhere quite like a lot of places. That was until the Voltaris attacked and killed everyone I know... everyone always says that children are too young to know of the dangers that Ardonia brings but I've seen it, I've seen almost everyone I knew with their blood sucked dry, not in the moment but there were signs that they were sucked dry..." I sigh. 'What about you, where were you raised?"

"I was raised in Nestoria along with my siblings, my mother died a bit after giving birth to Brayden protecting me and Addy when a Skeleton tried to attack us, risking her own life and letting me and Addy live. We still loved normally but that's why I'm so protective of them. Mostly Addy though..." He says and sighs a bit.

"Yeah, why are you so protective of her, because she's female? Believe me females can fight just as good as males." I assure him and he shakes his head.
