Ness sighed before standing up. "So, are we leaving?" He had been silent throughout the entire session, his eyes often trailing to Kaiser with a barely concealed irritation. I couldn't help but feel relieved that his frustration wasn't directed at me.
"Sure. And don't forget, B/n," Kaiser added with a smirk. "You know where our room is." With that, the two finally left me alone.
I took my shower peacefully, savoring the quiet moments. But as I dried off and changed into my baggy clothes, the reality of my situation hit me—I had promised to spend the night with them. The thought of bailing crossed my mind, but knowing Kaiser, he'd probably make my life even more difficult if I didn't show up. With a sigh, I resigned myself to my fate, though I fully intended to sleep with one eye open.
As I walked down the hallway, lost in my thoughts, I took a sudden turn and collided with a hard, muscular chest. "Ah—" Before I could fall back, a strong hand gripped mine, pulling me up and steadying me. Dazed, I blinked up at the figure before me, and my eyes widened in shock.
"You..." I stammered, trying to find my footing in more ways than one.
He stared down at me with a cold, unblinking gaze. "Watch where you're going."
"What are you doing here?!" The question slipped out before I could stop it.
His expression didn't change, remaining as impassive as ever. "I was called here."
"Seriously? But... why?" I asked, still trying to wrap my mind around his sudden presence.
"You're asking a lot of questions," he muttered, clearly annoyed.
"Well... yeah! I thought you weren't staying after the U-20 match, Sae!" I finally managed to say, my surprise turning into confusion.
Sae's stoic eyes bored into mine as he responded, "It's classified information. Not something a petty Blue Locker is allowed to know yet." With that, he began walking away.
For a moment, I just stood there, watching his retreating figure, before a sudden realization hit me. I hurried after him, nearly tripping over my own feet in my haste. "Wait a sec!" I called out, jumping in front of him to block his path. His glare intensified as he looked down at me.
"What? I'm only interested in what you have to say if it's about joining my team."
I sweat dropped, "You're still on that?"
"I told you, I don't like seeing wasted talent." His tone was as unamused as ever, and I awkwardly smiled in response.
"Um... thanks for the compliment, but why does everyone keep saying that?"
His eyes narrowed, a hint of something dangerous flickering in them. "Who?"
I quickly backpedaled, my hands shooting up in defense. "J-joke! No one!"
He exhaled sharply, placing a hand on my shoulder as he roughly pushed me out of his way. "Don't joke with me."
But just as he began to move past, I grabbed his hand impulsively. "Hold on! You need to hear me out!"
He didn't stop, but he didn't pull away either, his pace slowing just enough for me to keep up.
"I'll... consider joining you if you hear me out!" The words tumbled out of my mouth before I could think them through, and I immediately regretted them. What a fucking idiot I am... well, not like I actually said I'd join... just that I'd consider it...!
