The wrong lover

Chapter 10

- Peeta's PoV -

(Weeks later)

Weeks has passed since Katniss last interview, I've done multiple propos and I know what that means. She might have died from the pain. I want another interview or update about her. I beg Coin everyday to save her but she keeps refusing and saying the same thing about how it's too dangerous. I don't want to work for her, atleast not until I get an update on Katniss. I know the rebellion has spies in the Capitol. 

- Peeta, can you focus? Coin asks me and I wake up from my daydreams.

- Yes of course. I'm sorry. I say quickly changing myself into a straight sitting position.

- So as I was saying we got information about miss Everdeen. One of our spies managed to get into their cell. Miss Everdeen was nowhere to be seen but we heard her screams. We expect them to be hers. We got some quick information from Annie Cresta having a cell very close to Katniss. Both the girls are alive but we did not get a check on Katniss health or on Annie's health. Coin says looking at me.

Atleast I know she is alive then but I get angered that they can send spies in but they can't get them out. 

- Was this a planned escape for them? Haymitch asks.

- No, it's way to risky to bring another human out. Especially when they know who they are. Our spies are people in peacekeepers outfits. It's impossible to get them out safely. We have to wait for a better opportunity. I can also say that the Capitol managed to find the spy and many more after we recieved the message. So for now we have no spies in the Capitol. May those men rest in peace. Coin says.

I know she doesn't have any emotions for losing men that weren't from her district. She has a huge ego and that is dangerous in a leader. I can't overthrow her yet, even though she doesn't save Katniss from there she has a good plan for the rebellion. 

- That's all the information for today. You may go back to your schedules now, all except for Mr Mellark. I want to have a word with him. Coin says and a bit of fear rushes through my entire body. 

I shouldn't be scared of her but I am. She has the power to save the person I love or leave her to die. She has the power to destroy me or make me the happiest person in the world. All people leave except for me, Coin and cournal Boggs. 

- You wanted to speak to me. I say trying to get things moving forward.

- Yes, so mr Mellark. I have been noticing you day dreaming in many different meetings. So is there something going on stopping you from paying attention? She asks me, I find it to be an extremely dumb question. All I can think about is Katniss, she can't seriously think I'll move on from her.

- I'm sorry about that. I'm trying my best to focus on these meetings. I often zone out thinking about Katniss and her situation. I'm so sorry Coin. I say to her, the lies tastes sour in my ears. I'm not sorry for having feelings.

- Okay, you may now resume to your schedule. She says pointing at the door.

She truly has no respect for anyone but Boggs, the only one to show a hundred procent loyalty. I really just want to punch her right on the nose for not saving Katniss from the Capitol. I look at my arm seeing my schedule and luckily I have lunch now. I know Prim has the same lunchtime and we always agree on meeting outside of the hospital before going to eat. I get there and I see Prim waiting for me. She and Lillian got different lunchtime so Prim and I decided to start eating together.

Prim hugs me as I walk up to her, I want to tell her the news about Katniss but yet not. I want to say that she is infact alive but not about her screams and anything else. 

- Hi Peeta. Prim says happily.

- Hey Prim, I got news about Katniss... I say to her.

- Tell me tell me! Prim says to me in joy but probably a bit scared aswell.

- She is still alive, that's what I can tell you. I say to her.

- Atleast we know that. She says, this time not in joy.

We both look at eachother with the same sad face and we both begin walking towards the cafeteria. I try to break the ice with a new conversation.

- Sorry I came a bit late. Coin wanted to talk to me after our meeting. I say to her.

- It's okay, What did she talk to you about? Prim asks me.

- Just that I'm dozing off during meetings. I say to her trying to avoid what I am thinking about during those times.

- What did you think about? She asks me.

- That doesn't matter... I say avoiding it.

- It's Katniss right... Prim says to me.

- Yeah. I say as we get to the cafeteria.

- Let's take a seat next to Haymitch and Gale. Prim says pointing at the table they sit at.

We get our food and we both make our way towards their table and I take a seat next to Haymitch, I don't think Gale likes me after I was taken here and Katniss taken to the Capitol. Just as I am about to dig into my food the TVs turn on. It's the Capitol intro rolling in and on the screen appears Caesar. I hope Katniss is in the other seat.

- A big welcome to all you in Panem. Today our special guest Katniss Everdeen has made it back on television after weeks of the audience wanting more of her. So Katniss, how are you doing today? Caesar asks me.

- I'm good, how are you today? She asks Caesar. 

As the camera turns on her I begin shaking seeing her condition. They haven't even tried to hide her scars. She is truly broken.
