You weren't sure what you were expecting.

You knew it wasn't an animal, that man was trying to kill someone—a living sentient being. All that came to you was the hope that, whoever is in there, is still alive, and, really, that is all that mattered. Everything else can wait after you confirm this wish.

As soon as the sack was away—the heavy cloth flopping to the ground in a wet and miserable sound, a head popped out and they immediately hunched over to throw up all the water they might have swallowed. The sound of choked sobs interrupted by the sour bile of stomach acid and dirty water.

You... aren't sure what you were looking at, despite the car's headlights casting everything in yellow, harsh light. You've seen many different aliens and Androids, especially in this section of the city with every rich ass buying them or with them working around places, but this specimen was unfamiliar to your eyes.

What you did know was the collar around their neck, glinting in the light like the first star in a black sky.

The collared—and those Androids who have little rights regarding them, were everywhere in this society and have been for many, many decades now. You were born into this life, into this time of great technology—you think people are expecting you to be familiar with the brutal behavior of the bastards and be okay with it.

They think that, since you have seen it so much that it became the norm, it would seem completely alright to abuse innocent people. Completely justified to work them to the bone.

They think it will be a root of your whole being that you cannot change.

It was exactly what your mother used to say: people follow blindly the norms they were born into, and not doing so would make them an outcast. You would see someone cooking something a certain but stupid way and not know the reason why—they would give the simple answer of, "My mother used to do it this way, so it must be right."

People are blind. How can they not see? What powerful blindfold is on their eyes?

How can they not see, or are they seeing just fine but completely ignoring the cries of others?

Everyone would be familiar with the work Fazco has, it was one of the biggest corporations out there, especially with keeping unwanted slaves alive and sheltered. It was the tainted company that sold such people—the word "sold" feels too heavy on your mind to shoulder.

How could anyone even look at someone, a being who can feel and think, and only see a product to be bought and sold? If you cannot even drag the words they use to describe them from how heavy they are, how could they say it so freely? So normally?
