In all his life, Ellen did not think he had been disrespected as he was now.
Not to get him wrong, it wasn't as if he hadn't had people yell at him or, in his younger years being introduced to the company, teased in a not-so-friendly manner. He had seen it all, really. Some people have no respect for anyone, and sometimes the 'anyone' in the question is him, but that never deterred him much.
Until now. Because now wasn't just a customer being rude or an elderly being scathing. This is something that has his nerves in a steel grip and yet, here are the people he asked help from, completely doing the opposite.
He should have known. He really should have. The police rarely helped, and it was ever rarer for him to find a good cop who would help and not take his problem and troubles as just another case that needed to be finished and done with. It wasn't just the police. Hospitals and hospital staff are alike to that too. A sick person is just another being on the list that goes on and on.
Perhaps it was just his bad experience that was speaking, but he knew it wasn't right now.
"This procedure is not done here, sir." An ornery officer says, legs crossed and eyes narrowed. "Not to mention, you have given us little information. If your sibling is hurt then the hospital will call us when they gather any information on the matter."
Ellen was faltering. How could he? He housed meetings that were beyond successful, all led by him. He spoke to people who own big companies without his voice even lowering or raising a notch. He knew exactly what to say in front of them and how to get his point across.
But here, in front of a police officer who didn't even humor him to go around the desk and search his computer, Ellen was growing more and more unsure. More and more irritated and downright mad.
He was shocked, talking with all his stress barely contained in his body, and not even getting a concerned look from the cop. It was like he was some sort of delusional man trying to get benefits from an accident he caused.
The cop had not even let him finish. The moment he heard about a collared person mentioned, he immediately shot Ellen's words down. This is the police station, and not the shelter, he had said.
Ellen was understanding more and more of your anger the more he stood like a dumbass in the middle of the room, the cop sitting crosslegged on a chair in front of an office that is presumably his. At this point, he wasn't sure if he wished his sister was here or not. Amelia would have known what to say, but the problem is that she might get snappy and quite rude if she was treated like he is now, which is something that will not help them at the moment.
The only reason why Ellen was not kicked out yet is because he wasn't letting his anger show. A feat that he, shamelessly, wants a prize for. And said prize is hopefully something heavy, for personal reasons.
