THE QUESTION

"The pleasure of remembering had been taken from me, because there was no longer anyone to remember with. It felt like losing your co-rememberer meant losing the memory itself.
As if the things we'd done were less real and important than they had been
hours before."
— John Green

My mom has officially decided that she doesn't care about us anymore. Steve uses all her money for pills, drugs, and there's barely enough money for rent.

She hasn't gotten out bed once, I don't even know if she's been eating.

Anything I say is ignored, I don't even try to tell her anything anymore.

Nolan has called me more than 5 times this week but I haven't cared to answer. I didn't want to know what Augustine was doing or where he was.

Or if it was even about Augustine.

He left and when he left he took our bond with him, everything that we once had is now gone and no longer remembered.

By me at least.

Mateus and I have slept in the same bed ever since I left him alone and quite frankly I think we would be better off outside this house.

A part of me wants me to believe that my mom still cares but I know she doesn't.

I feel as if one day she'll snap out of whatever episode she's in and tell everyone to get their shit together like she used to.

Maybe even go and direct a world wide search mission just to get Augustine in this house.

But I know she doesn't care like she used to.

I know if my dad was still here, things would've been different.

I took Mateus to the park since he had begged me to get out of the house.

His friend Tim met him over there, Tim's mom knows our situation so she's always allowed Mateus to stay with them.

I took this as an opportunity to write some more.
