Miss Julia quickly called them, to quickly get downstairs and welcome their guests. Megan looked ravishing in her black wide-legged slacks, and a blazer on top of the cropped tank top she had on, and some high-heeled shoes. Her intention was to look  formal, just as Julia since she had never met the people.
Sage on the other hand, walked down the stairs to the grand foyer, taking her time in between steps, adorned in a short black pencil dress and a bright green crewneck over it, with some sneakers finishing her look. Julia who was in charge of  styling the both of them wanted to paint a clear picture of how the girls felt with their attire.
They stood side by side infant of the French double doors, waiting for the said aunt and uncle. Julia opened the doors upon hearing the door bell go off. A typical black family stood on the other side of the door, except they look like a whole football team with the parents in the back.
The three ladies were taken a back, not really expecting to see soo many children whom were adorned in black matching outfits. Seeing Julia and Megan were too stunned to speak, sage stepped forward and welcomed them into the house.
"Hello, you must be uncle..." she scratched her neck, realising that they never even knew their names and she found this embarrassing.
"Tyrell." The chubby middle aged man in the back filled in, as he pushed through the children and walked towards her. "You must be sage." She said, opening his arms up to pull her into his embrace which she found warm. "I'm so sorry for your loss."
"Thank you." She said into the hug, her voice muffled in it.
"This is my wife, Mia," he said once she pulled out of his hug, and pointed to the dark-haired woman who was fit and had a dazzling smile.
"Hello," she waved, and looked back to Megan and Julia who were now finally of their trance and waved to the woman.
"And this is our lovely football team." He said trying to lighten the mood which he did, as he earned a chuckle from sage.
"Come on in." She invited the family in, trying to be nice and possible, and looked at Julia trying to non-verbally  tell her to take over, which she did.
As it turned out, their aunt, their father's sister was yet to arrive so they held up the family meeting.
During the wait, sage had her doubts about them being legit. They could just be some people who heard of the sad demise of the Kingsley's and faked everything for all they knew.

When the door bell rang, Megan excused herself from her cousins and went to open the door. Standing on the other side of the road stood a woman, seemingly in her late twenties, adorned in a white pencil dress with a slit that ran dangerously up her thigh and sunglasses perched upon her face.. she hadn't even seen her eyes but evert detail of her was ravishing. Immediately, she got intimidated by her, just her poise and aura of confidence melted the little she had.
"Kelis Kingsley," she simply said, and slightly stretched out her arm for a shake. "You must be Megan."
"I am." She replied trying to compose herself and steady her voice. "Please come in." She moved to the side to let her in. When she was inside, she removed her sunglasses,  and she was indeed beautiful.
Megan led her to the living room, where everyone was, and surprisingly, she did not have to introduce anyone to the other.
"Aye wasup kelis," the uncle said standing up, his lips lifted up in a smile.
"What's good bruh," she too broke in her own smile as she moved forward to hug her brother.
So it was only their parents who didn't know each other? Sage wondered as she watched the lady hug all the kids who seemed really fond of her. What happened? What really happened between the siblings?

*****
It was just the sisters, kelis, Tyrell and Julia in the study room, with Tyrol stood up and the rest sat down.
"You're father never really got along with my parents, he never listened and did whatever he wanted. He was under the impression that our parents favoured kelis and I, over him, which I don't think is true. Your grandparents did all they could for us. So he turned 18 and ran away with the love of his life, your mother." The man paused, the topic seeing to be a sentimental one for him.
"We tried to reach him, but he wanted nothing to do with us, especially after he got rich and I struggled getting through med school so we just gave up. Who our parents died, we reached out again and it was clearer than ever that he couldn't give two shits about us, or his parents." Aunt kelis filled in the rest of the story, seeming more angry than sad.
Megan could not fail to see the similarities between sage and their father. Both stubborn, no one could change their minds about anything and really careless, jumping into conclusion and building walls up quickly.
"What about our mother?" Sage asked, her normal curiosity which often got her into deep trouble, getting the best of her.
"She was an only child..." tyrell started off, but was interrupted but Sage's not-so-loud whispering.
"Some truth-yay." Megan looked at her in a not so pleased manner and rolled her eyes, but the rest of the adults just ignored her comment, not seeing answering her of any importance, she had all the right to feel so.
"Her mother was a single one, and despite growing up together, we never really knew much about her."
"The ceremony will be short and private, in a week," Julia informed, following Tyrell's statement. Neither of the girls had anything to say about this, making Julia release a sigh of relief, too soft to be noticed. "After the ceremony, you will stay with your aunt-one with your aunt, one with your uncle. We will leave that choice to you."
"I do not want to stay away from Sage." Megan said, reaching out for her little sister's arm. Despite the clash they had for the few days, they still were each other's all, each other's love. They had no one else apart from each other.
"Your just going to send us to live all alone multiple states apart from each other with these people just because they say they are our relatives? How do we even know they are telling the truth." Sage yelled out tears that she blinked away filling her green eyes.
Megan saw where she came from but she didn't agree with her lack of tact and grace about how she went about things.
"This is what the law requires of us dear, that you stay with your relatives. Besides you can visit each other as frequently as possible, also, your parents left you nothing but your college fund so we do not have means to put you together." Julia said the harsh words so softly, it calmed sage. Megan walked out of the room, after excusing herself politely, not really happy about the way their lives was falling in shambles and no one seemed to care to put them together. They had a week exactly together, before they were ripped off each other's hands.
"I'll go with Tyrell." Sage said following her sister out of the room. And that settled it.

No one expected sage to cry at the memorial service, but she did. She cried hard, stopping her tears not really in her ability. But she knew what was disturbing her. This ceremony marked the day her and her sister being ripped from each other.
They had not rally talked about their most recent rough patch but they didn't want to waste the time they had.
It felt like her heart was being ripped out of her own chest when they said their goodbyes in the airport, Tyrell and the family behind  sage, while kelis was behind Megan.
"I love you." Megan said in between sobs, when they were reminded that time was up.
"I love you too." Sage said, wiping the tears off her flawless face.
The plane rides for both of them were a struggle, them headed opposite directions from each other and not knowing how to live without the other. But they would. It would get better, they'd meet new people and forget about each other. That was a fear that had a hold on both their hearts.
