Spending the weekend away from each other, was kind off sad, and they wished they were together, but between the FaceTiming and all the different activities they both have to do, the weekend rolled out pretty fast, faster than they both thought.
Sage's weekend was nothing but shopping, and picking up her new school uniform, and touring her school with razaiah so she wouldn't have a tough time trying to find her classes the next day.
She was excited, genuinely, but razaiah couldn't stop expressing her hate for school, despite how badly she wanted to put it, sage's little flame of hope and joy was not going to be put out. She finally would have friends, she would go out on parties have fun, maybe even have a boyfriend. Despite all of this, she just loved the fresh start, she appreciated the fact that life may have given her a second chance, a redemption. She was optimistic about school, about life in general.
She walked slowly downstairs on Monday morning, admiring how cute her short skirt was. Her face was nothing but an indication of pure happiness.
"Good morning sage," her aunt greeted once she saw her approaching the kitchen, and made everyone turn to her. "You seem happy," it wasn't hard to notice, and this comment made her smile wider."
"I am." She said pulling her chair back and sitting down. On the table, was food in bowls that she appreciated, considering that her  breakfast with their parents consisted of nothing but vegetable smoothies that she dumped out immediately she got out of the house.
"Girl, I suggest you lower your expectations to zero. School is boring and I wish I had the privilege to get homeschooling like you,"  Keo, one of the teens in high school among the kids said, earning yeses and nods through out the table.
"Don't be such party poopers," Tyrell said, to his kids, despite finding full truth in what they said. School has never been his thing, even when handling the children that had always been under his wife's wing.
"Baby, I'm sure you will have a great time." Mia said to Sage as she put one of the last dishes on the lang table, and sat down herself.
"No you won't." Someone said from the far end of the table. At this point, Sage got her cousins names mixed up, despite having Razaiah hammering all the eleven names into her head the whole weekend. It would take sometime, knowing all of them, considering the only interaction was during meals at the dining table, because most of the kids had completely different schedules.
Breakfast was soon over, and the high school kids got into Razaiah's range, while others opted to take their own cars.
"Listen cousin, I don't want to pop your bubble, but please, follow my lead and you will be fine. People in that school are rich and white and mean so don't talk to no one, until I give you the go ahead."  Razaiah waited till they were close to school to give this piece of information to her cousin, whose best interest she had in her heart.
"At this point I think you just hate white people," Sage snorted out as she said this.
"I don't, I just hate the way some of them behave. You will see what I mean in a second." She parked the car, and everyone else jumped out, apart from the two. "Now you will receive stares, ignore them. Hold your head high, and be mysterious, and hella confident," she said, and they both got out of the car, and she was right. People stared so hard she thought they could bore holes through them and most were not nice . They both held their heads high, as they walked, through the hallways, like they run the place, like the two black queens they were.
After they both got their books from their lockers, they left each other for their classes.
Sage had English first, and was just on time as she got in just after the teacher. Once she was in the room, the class went quiet all eyes on her as she found a seat.
"Class, meet sage the new student..."  the teacher paused as he saw there wasn't much information about her. He looked up, and looked at her, without the help of the glasses that were lowly perched up upon his nose. "Why don't you introduce yourself?" Sage stood up, gracefully, more graceful than she ever though she was. This derived a slight smile from her lips as she started speaking.
"My name is Sage Kingsley, and I am from California." It was short and to the point, leaving a lot of questions unanswered, just as her cousin prompted her to be.
She sat down as whispers spread through out the classroom, which the teacher shushed down.
Lunch was finally here and she was supposed to meet up with Razaiah, to go grab something in the cafe. Her day was basically her introducing herself, the same way she had in the first class before every class. It was things she had already covered, and she made a mental note to discuss this with her hand. She was basically one year ahead. This was the only perk to homeschooling, she was supposed to be in junior year at 15 and done with high school, as young as her sister.
"Hey girl," Razaiah said, catching up with her, after dropping off her books in her locker.
"What's good?" She replied, slightly smiling at her.
"How is this haven?"  She teased, making them both break out in a giggle.
"Its actually not that bad, I just think I was put a whole year behind." She said, as Razaiah pulled out a chair from a two person table, and sat down, with Sage mimicking her actions.
"What do you mean?"
"I was in junior year before this whole thing." She shrugged as she said this, not getting what she was not getting. She looked around the homey and cute place, and wondered how the hell that was in a school.
"Oh, it's a homeschool thing?" She asked, to which sage nodded. "I'm gonna go and grab us something, what do you want?" She asked standing up, after taking her blazer off.
"Oh I could come with you," Sage said, standing up along with razaiah who stopped her.
"No, it's no biggie cuz, I got you," Razaiah said lifting her hand up, and quickly but mildly wafted it.
Sage sat down, honoured by her cousin's effort to make her first day perfect. She walked away, after telling her what she wanted. She watched as she walked to the counter, and a tall silhouette in the corner of her eye made her shift her gaze towards the door. Through it, a tall elegant young man walked in, his brunette hair held back in a bum, that gave him a clean look. He canvassed the cafe first, confidence seeming to be his nature, as he looked for his friends. For a brief moment, they met with Sage's , which didn't once, deter hers from looking at his gorgeous lean self. She watched his eyes travel back to hers. He noticed her gaze, and scoffed, then smiled.
