Sage was sprawled on her bed contemplating. She never liked Darren that much, so it would be easy to cut him loose.she kept on repeating this to herself, till she brought herself to the realisation that a part of her, was in fact, involve with him. Her phone buzzed on the nightstand. She picked it to see Darren's text, asking if he could call. But he never waited for her response before FaceTiming her. Maybe because he knew there wouldn't be one. She picked up the phone call 'for closure"
"Sage baby, I'm so sorry it was never like that..." he started, before she cut him off.
"Is it true?" She asked, figuring that Razaiah had spoken to him.
"Baby..." he sighed out not really knowing how to break it to her that he wanted to know her despite her cousin approaching him for the same reason. And it was at this moment that it dawned on him how terrible it all was.
"Did she ask you to befriend me?"
"Yes, but..." she hung up at him before he could explain himself.
All this mess for her missing Megan. She would've known what to do and what to say, and how to handle all that was happening. She knew in her head that she had to see her.
Silent as a grave was the house the next morning. The two girls were instructed to wake up earlier that everyone else, to have the very much needed conversation between them and their parents.
Razaiah was the first of both to get to her fathers office where Tyrell was sat behind his large dark brown mahogany desk, and Mia stood beside him. They looked good together, the always have. One bounced off the other, hence their great teamwork.
"Sage, where is she?" Mia asked her daughter who just shrugged, not taking her eyes off her phone. Just then Sage came walking through the door, not in school uniform as she was expected to be. Mia and Tyrell said nothing. At this point, all they wanted to do was listen to them not the other way around, as it had led them to a ditch.
"Good morning girls.." Tyrell started, really unsure of where to tread first. The two muttered out their responses in whispers "so yesterday, the whole day was so chaotic and your fight was the cherry on top. And from your fight we learned that there's some stuff y'all have not shared with us. Care to expound on that?" He was soft. His voice, and his face, just like his wife was. Neither of them spoke up. They stayed quiet. It wasn't really in Razaiah to talk about it. The wound was still fresh, something she wished for no one.
Something she'd prefer to have her memory wiped over. She was surprised when tears started to form in her eyes, but that was a fail-they still found their way to her rosy cheeks.
"I'm so sorry for all I said and all the hurt I caused but I do not think Razaiah wants to talk about this right now. " Sage cut through the silence that seemed unending.
"We understand baby, but how are we supposed to help you?" Mia asked, looking perplexed like never before.
"You will auntie, in due time. Right now, what we really need is some space." Razaiah said nothing all along, but was thankful that Sage knew what to say, when she didn't.
"Can I please go see my sister?" Sage took the chance to ask for a favour. It was a long shot, but at least she tried.
"Razaiah, where do you want to go?" Tyrell asked cautious. It was never his intention to seem like he was favouring her cousin over her, but this was a mistake he never wanted to do again.
"No where". Her voice came out raspy. She paused to clear her throat. "I just need to take a few days off school." There were slight hiccups in her voice from all the silent crying she did.
"We will make the arrangements then get back to you." Mia spoke up, not seeing the harm in both of them missing a few days of school and getting their heads back in the game. "But I need you to understand, all that we do, we do it for you, because we love you two so much. And when you are ready to talk, we will be waiting for you." The passion in her voice made something shift in the girls. She loved all of her kids so much, and to see them hurt is worse than taking a double edged sword to her chest.
The next three hours passed, and Sage was on a plane to Atlanta. She had to, she felt like she was drowning and the only hand that could pull her up was Megan's. It had been long since they last saw each other so she had to seize the opportunity.
Darren kept blowing her phone up, with texts and calls but she couldn't bring herself to come to terms with the fact that he was with her only because Razaiah asked him to. It was gut wrenching. Despite having spent one of the best moments of her life with him, why he was there threw her off.
The flight was a quick one, partially because she was so lost in the dark thick woods that her thoughts had become.
It was pure joy for Megan when she saw her sister come down the escalator. She couldn't help but bounce a little as she waited for her to get to her, the anticipation killing her. For Sage, it was tears. She couldn't hold it in. She finally had her rock back, finally having the one person who understood her, the person around whom sag didn't have to act tough around.
"I missed you," Megan said to her, still holding her tight in her bosom after a while.
"I missed you more. She pulled out of the hug, and wiped her tears. She picked up the bags she didn't care about earlier, when the only thing that mattered was being held by her sister and feeling her warmth.
"What's up Sage, "Megan wondered, She got a good look of her sisters face and instantly noticed the despair in her sisters eyes. "What's going on?"

"Razaiah and I had a fight" Sage informed. To Megan it wasn't that big of a deal, sometimes family fights, until she heard of the backstory on the way home. They sat for hours talking about the issue, and Megan summarised everything in one sentence.
"Razaiah was trying to protect you." She claimed, finally.
"What about Darren?how do you explain him? He acted like he liked me all this time and tricked me into liking him."
"Talk to the dude Sage." She said standing up, trying to indicate to her that they had to leave.
"Easy for you to say." Sage countered, she too standing up. She wanted to kill the subject after talking about it for too long.
"You fancy some lobster?" Megan asked as she shrugged a long coat Inver her simple outfit.
"I actually need some cheesy pizza and coke." Now that her aunt was miles away from her, she chose the food she craved most and she couldn't eat it on her watch. She just missed the feeling of the unhealthy amounts of cheese in her mouth, and washing it down with a ton of coke.
"I bet aunty is feeding you the healthiest." Megan stated giggling at her sister.
"Healthy is boring." Sage said as they got into the elevator.
The sisters laughed through out the night. Their laughter filled the small diner often, like the chirps of little birds. That was only a few people full. Their continuous laughter of Sage telling her sister how fun and great it was living with 11 other siblings was, was interrupted by the buzz of Sages phone. They both knew who it was immediately.
"Talk to him Sage, it wont hurt to listen to him." Megan encouraged her sister who just frowned at the idea.
Sage was quiet about this. She never really knew what to do or say. It worried her mind, what if they went on like nothing happened and he felt like he could walk over her? She wanted him, without any doubt in her heart or mind she knew it but men are men.
"I will when I get back. Now is our time sis. Who knows when I'll see you next." She shut her phone down then put her palm over her hand, to reassure her. It was halfway true. This was the only time she had seen her sister in months and it was going to be the only time she was going to see her in many months to come, but she wasn't ready to tackle the issue with Darren and Razaiah.
