The TV flickered softly in the background, casting a warm glow across the cluttered living room where Y/N, Amy, Hartley, Jake, and Colby were gathered. Y/N was sprawled comfortably on the couch, her head resting against Colby's shoulder as he leaned back with a smirk. The room hummed with casual chatter and the occasional groan of frustration.
"Why does every movie have to end with the superhero winning?" Amy grumbled, eyes glued to the screen, arms crossed defiantly.
Y/N let out a soft laugh, brushing a stray lock of hair behind her ear. "Because people love seeing good prevail over evil. And honestly? I love how much it gets under Amy's skin."
Amy shot a glare at the screen, tapping her foot impatiently. "I do not have a problem with Starling."
"Sure you don't," Hartley teased, nudging Amy with her elbow. "Let's just watch it again!"
From across the room, Jake called out, "Hey, your sister and your neighbor are your weekend plans, Hartley. Should you really be trash talking?"
The front door creaked open and Colby entered, flashing that mischievous grin he always wore when he was about to stir up trouble. "Whoa! What's up, fam?"
"Colby! Stop using your powers to scare us," Y/N said with mock sternness, though a smile tugged at her lips.
Colby laughed, plopping down beside Y/N. "My whole life, this family's been pranking me with powers. Now, I'm finally getting some payback. Watch this—let's see how Mom reacts to a rattlesnake in her toilet!"
Amy rolled her eyes. "I'm not sure he really thought that one through."
The TV announcer's voice suddenly filled the room, breaking their banter. "Coming to The Capital Convention Center, it's the superhero event of the century—Colossa-Con! Where superheroes meet super-fans!"
Hartley's eyes lit up. "Who wouldn't go to that?"
Jake smirked. "I've gone the last five years. On purpose."
Amy groaned. "You're the only one."
The announcer continued, excitement crackling through the speakers. "We've got superhero cosplay, superhero t-shirts, superhero snacks, and did we mention... superheroes?"
"Yeah, you mentioned it," Amy muttered.
"And for the first time ever, making her Colossa-Con debut, fresh off her victory over super villain Havoc... Starling!"
Amy and Jake exchanged glances, a mix of disbelief and irritation. "What?!" they exclaimed.
Hartley beamed, eyes shining. "Starling's my favorite... person to hate. Because she's your nemesis."
Amy snorted. "Nice save."
Jake shrugged. "Why else do you hate her?"
Hartley's smile faltered just a bit. "Uh... because she insulted Arkansas in a cute and endearing way."
Y/N sighed, shifting on the couch to make herself more comfortable against Colby. "I can't say anything bad about her. She's perfect."
Hartley nodded eagerly. "I always wanted to meet her. One time, I thought about strapping myself to a rocket just to see if she'd save me."
Amy groaned dramatically. "I'd like to strap myself to a rocket just to get out of this conversation."
Jake grinned. "I know she's a superhero, and you're a super villain, but why do you hate her so much?"
Hartley hesitated, biting her lip. "It's a long story. I don't want to get into it."
Jake laughed. "We got time. And I definitely want to get into it."
