The following morning goes by smoothly. Kiara and I clean up the house up while the boys sit around talking.

They all end up going to John B's. I agreed to meet them back at my house for the party at 8:30. I have plans with Rafe.

He picks me up at around 12:45pm.

"Hey princess."

Princess.

"Hey pretty boy." I laugh.

"I told you to stop calling me that." He rolls his eyes and smiles.

"Nope. That's your name now."

"Yeah yeah. So, where'd you want to go?" He asks me.

"Not sure. Maybe we can grab some food. Country Club?"

"Sure." I nod.

"Just got somewhere to stop first."

"Oh. Uh- Barry's?"

He nods as he licks his lips.

"Listen, I'm quitting. I'm just getting this for the party. Make a few extra bucks."

That's relieving. I really don't know how to feel about him doing coke. He kind of scared me that night at Tannyhill with Sarah. He was clearly not himself.

We pull up to Barry's and he we head inside.

"Miss Country Club is back!" He shouts as he takes a beer out of his mini fridge.

"You want one?"

"No, I'm good thanks. Nice seeing you B."

I figured that I'd be doing enough drinking tonight anyway.

As per usual, Barry hands Rafe the bag of white powder.

I feel myself getting hotter by the second.

I lick my lips.

Why did I come in here.

Ever since I did a line or two at the party, I've been wanting to go back to it. But I also want to stay sober. I definitely don't want to be back where I used to be. Watching Rafe slowly go down the same path breaks me. But I trust that he's telling me the truth. That he's just reselling it tonight.

Later on during the day, Rafe and I are just lounging around at the Country Club. He bought me food and we sat talking for about an hour and a half.

I can't help but think about how things will go tonight. It's mission impossible. Was it a bad move to invite Sarah and Rafe to the party?

Regardless of how much I'm stressing out about it, I try to clear my thoughts.

His eyes.

His hair.

The way he says things like "yeah" or "alright".

Him.

While I'm busy wandering around in my own thoughts, I wake up to see Topper and Kelce, greeting Rafe. I never even saw them walk in.

Topper's been a dick this summer. The last interaction I had with him was when I punched him at the Wreck.

Not my brightest moment.

"Oh hey Cass. Do I need to back up, just in case you lose your temper again?"

Oh god. Shut up.

Instead of responding, I simply roll my eyes.

Very mature of me, huh?

"Leave her alone man." Rafe interrupts.
