THE GIRLS DIDN’T KNOW WHAT TO DO WHILE THEY WAITED FOR THEIR PARENTS TO COME SAVE THEM. Tu’ahu was growing worse, her arm hurting even when a light breeze touched it. Her other arm that was intact and tied up was aching from the position it was tied in.

Tuk and Kiri exchanged nervous glances, and Tuk tried her best to keep Tu’ahu’s mind off of her arm. Quaritch stood a little ways away from them, talking to Jake. “Talk to me, Corporal. This ship’s going down and your girls with it. Your boy didn’t have to die. You brought that on yourself.” Tuk, Kiri and Tu’ahu didn’t hear Quaritch’s words, and it’s a good thing they didn’t. They had no idea of what had happened to their brother.

Tu’ahu took in a sharp breath of air, pulling herself into more of a sitting position using all her upper body strength as Quaritch continued taunting Jake. All three girls exchanged nervous looks, unaware that their father was on board, beginning to concoct a plan to save them.

All of a sudden, there was an explosion, and the sisters watched in panic as the ship continued going down. But Tu’ahu knew it was Jake who caused the explosion. He was clearing the ship so he could get to them.

“Don’t worry,” Tu’ahu heaved, finding it increasingly harder to breathe. “Mom and Dad are here. They’re coming.” she promised her little sisters, who nodded.

“They’re gonna save us, right?” Tuk asked nervously, watching the ship flame around them. There was panic and destruction everywhere, and Tu’ahu hoped her parents were the cause of it.

“Of course they are, Tuk.” Kiri promised, but she was skeptical. Quaritch began shooting at something alongside the soldiers and avatars who were dropping like flies.

The girls watched as he ran out of ammunition for his gun, pulling out his knife, instead. Tu’ahu chuckled. “That knife’s not gonna do anything if our parents are here.” Kiri scolded her sister, but Tu’ahu didn’t care. Her arm was in agony, and she just wanted to go home.

Quaritch growled in anger, and one of the human soldiers was shot with an arrow. Neytiri’s arrow. “It’s Mom!” Tuk cheered, and Tu’ahu forced herself to smile.

“That’s right. They’re coming for you. Once they see what you did to our sister they’ll destroy you.” Kiri spoke to Quaritch, and Tu’ahu inhaled sharply as a large gust of wind landed on her wounded arm.

Quaritch turned around and hissed angrily, and Tuk snarled back at him. Tu’ahu hissed at Quaritch, still fired up and angry even though she was in immense pain. “You wanna dance?” she prompted the avatar. “I know you’re afraid of me. It took six avatars to hold me down, and I killed many more than that.” she said darkly, and Quaritch looked away to think of his next move.

Kiri kicked her leg. “They’ll kill you, Tu’ahu.” she warned.

Tu’ahu shook her head, kicking Kiri back. “We’re bait. They don’t kill bait.” she said.

Quaritch grabbed Kiri suddenly, cutting her free and dragging her over to a corner while Tu’ahu and Tuk protested. Tu’ahu had moved too much, and her arm was too painful for her to bear.

But Aonung was here. And Jake was too. They crept silently over to the girls, and Tu’ahu looked up at them in pure shock. “Dad! Dad.” Tuk whispered eagerly, spotting her father.
