The sun broke through what was a peaceful night sky casting early morning shadows from the great tree that stood in front of it. Inside the tree two lions slept on one another peacefully. Though it had been a few days, they were tired and reasonably so due to the events that occurred over the last few days. However, this was especially true for the red maned male, and as the sun broke through the entrance to the great tree, the chestnut brown furred female woke, yawned, got up off and turned to her mate.

RANI: "Kion?", she whispered in his ear.

KION: "Ermmm, F- five more.... five more min-utes...", he replied trailing off as he went back to sleep.

Rani wasn't satisfied and playfully pounced Kion.

KION: "Gahhhh!", he yelled as would have been springing up if it were not for Rani pining him down.

RANI: "Are you up now?", she asked sarcastically yet in a teasing tone.

KION: "Yeah, yeah, I am up...", he said half annoyed, half almost amused.

RANI: "Good, because we do have a lot of....GHAHHHH!", she said then screamed after getting off Kion before he pinned her.

KION: "There, now we are even...", he said giving Rani a nuzzle lick.

Rani returned the nuzzle just as Makini walks in.

MAKINI: "Oh!", she yelped, "I am so sorry, I can come back later if..."

KION: "No Makini! We weren't...", he started getting red a bit.

RANI: "Makini, we were just having some...uh...fun, before starting our day...", she said also blushing a bit, "Anyway, what is it?"

MAKINI: "Ok then.", she said not totally convinced, "Well, Ono is outside with the morning report for you both."

RANI: "Ok Makini, we'll be right out.", she replied.

As the mandrill left, Kion walked next to Rani.

KION: "Rani, can you believe she thought we were... well...", he stuttered in embarassment.

RANI: "You know Kion, if I were in her place, I'd probably assume the same thing...", she replied.

KION: "Wait, what?", he replied in a surprised yet cautious way.

RANI: "Yeah, I mean we are mates. And while we are still a bit young, one day we will need some future heirs...", she said as she purred the last part while also nuzzling Kion before smiling at him and then walking out of the den.

Kion stood there for a moment, lost in what had just happened for a moment before smiling and pacing after Rani.

Soon Kion and Rani were both standing outside in front of Ono who had their morning report.

ONO: ".... oh, and Astuto's den has been repaired again after that recent storm", he finished.

RANI: "Thank you Ono.", she replied and Ono bowed to the two and flew off to join the guardians on the morning patrol.

Rani looked and noticed her mate looked a tad unsettled.

RANI: "Kion, are you ok.", she asked.

KION: "Yeah, of course", he said in a quick way.

RANI: "Kion...", she said not convinced in the slightest, "Come on, I know you."
