The Attack

Night had fallen and the Pridelands were in the usual peaceful state. However, little did the sleeping residents of the Kingdom and their rulers know, but enemies were fast approaching their border, using the cover of darkness.

KAEL: "Faster!", he ordered, "We must attack before sunrise!"

The tiger inspected his small, yet formidable band of predators including hyenas, lions, and leopards as they continued past him, and following them was Makucha whom Kael held out his paw and stopped.

KAEL: "Lieutenant, stop...", he said as Makucha stopped before his paw.

MAKUCHA: "What do you want Kael?!", he retorted, "Can't you see I am-"

Kael angrily growled and pinned him before he finished causing the whole group to stop for a quick moment.

KAEL: "How dare you speak to your commander that way!", he roared as Makucha winced under him.

MAKUCHA: "Apologies, it won't happen again...", he said hating ever bit of how submissive he sounded.

KAEL: "You will refer to me only as General from now on! Remember my lieutenant can always be replaced!", he threatened.

MAKUCHA: "Yes... of course...", he replied.

Makucha in reality was not really afraid of Kael's punishments. However, he knew that Kael was one of Mshindi's right hand predators and that Mshindi is the one who scared him. Therefore, as much as it pained Makucha to do so, it was best to get on Kael's good side.

KAEL: "It is your job to ensure our speed at the back of our unit, is it not?", he asked eerily calm.

MAKUCHA: "Of course, General", he replied.

KAEL: "Then why did I see soldiers falling behind?!", he growled as his calm demeanor dissipated just as quickly as it came.

MAKUCHA: "Well, we have been moving for a whole day's time, perhaps it is understandable that some of us may be tired...", he replied with a bit of sass.

KAEL: "Don't you dare! That is strike two, Lieutenant! If I catch either you or anyone else lacking behind, you will not see this sunrise or any thereafter is that clear!", he roared in fury.

MAKUCHA: "Yes...", he replied now actually somewhat fearful.

KAEL: "Get back in line! If any of our soldiers lag behind again, either force them on or force them down!", he roared one last time before heading back to the front.

MAKUCHA: "Yes General", he said before returning to his position.

A few of the predators were pale in the face as they stared at Makucha.

MAKUCHA: "What are you looking at?!", he yelled at them, "You heard the General, move it or I will make you loose it!"

The predators quickly averted their attention back to the group as they continued onward and Kael gave further encouragement.

KAEL: "We are almost there! The Pridelands will soon be ours!", he cried.

MAKUCHA: "For glory and what is ours for the taking!", he responded.

ALL OTHER PREDATORS: "Glory! And ours!", the rest responded.

Little did the group know, but the territory they were wandering through was that of the Outlands. Not only that, but from the rocks high above, a particular set of eyes had been on the group ever since she had been aware of their presence.
