(In Progress) The Lion King: The Three Rulers

The Grim Reality

       Kion woke up again to another day of what was feeling like never ending torment. It had been a few days, but Kion lost all track of time since the fall of the Tree of Life kingdom. How could something so terrible happen under his rule. How could his beloved queen... his Rani- he looked over to the lioness still unconscious. Kion refused to leave her side and Rafiki's tree. They told him they did all they could, but Kion would never leave her side... not even if... well... he didn't even want to think of that possibility. She had to get better, she just had to.  Kion loved Rani with all his heart and couldn't bear going on without her. Suddenly, Kion heard a slight moan and he shot up instantly. Kion ran to his beloved mate's side.

KION: "Rani?!", he frantically stated.

       Rani opened her eyes slowly as she looked at Kion.

RANI: "K-Kion?", she asked.

      Kion's face was full of tears as he barely gave her a chance to reply.

KION: "Rani...", he sobbed as he nuzzled her.

      Rani nuzzled him back with similar emotion.

RANI: "Kion... where...ughhh", she asked weakly trying to move but then groaning in pain.

      Suddenly a voice was heard behind them as Rafiki and Makini appeared.

RAFIKI: "Ah ah ah! You mustn't move! You have some major injuries!", the wise old mandril chuckled to lighten the mood of the situation.

MAKINI: "In fact, head injuries, leg injuries... well you get the point" she blabbered.

      Rani moved her head, wincing in pain, to her mate in confusion.

RANI: "Kion, what happened?", she asked.

       Kion didn't know how to answer. How could he, he let the Kingdom fall. She had almost perished with it. Sure, she told him to evacuate, but as King he felt like it was still his fault anything even happened in the first place. Kion felt like he could have done something. He was certainly at a low unlike he had ever been before, certainly worse than when he got his scar.

KION: "I... well...", he didn't know how to respond.

RANI: "The last thing I remember was...was...", she spoke suddenly fear in her voice and eyes growing in terror. 

       Suddenly Rani became became dizzy dropping as Kion caught her.

KION: "Rani!", he yelped catching her as she mumbled something inaudible and fell unconscious again.

      Makini rushed to Rani's aid as Rafiki shook his head.

KION: "What happened! Is she going to be ok?! I- OW!!!", Kion frantically spoke before being knocked on the head by Rafiki and his staff.

RAFIKI: "Young Kion... still not using da head, ha ha", he gestured out of the tree, "Come... follow old Rafiki, he will show you how."

       Kion rubbing his head with his paw in annoyance followed the wise mandril out, glancing back at Makini tending to Rani whom gave a nod as Kion sighed and followed Rafiki out. As they exited the tree, Kion realized it was night. Rafiki was gone.

KION: "Rafiki... I really must get back to her... ", he spoke in desperation and further annoyance.

Kion turned to go back in the tree before coming snout to index finger with Rafiki.
