A Feeling of Belonging

Tears fell down the young cub's cheeks as she ran. The young lioness ran not only for her immense loss she witnessed nor the the immense pain it brought her, she ran for her life.

KAJIK: "Run all you want, cub, you will be ours very soon", he wickedly called from a short distance behind her.

HERA: "And don't worry, you will see your parents again, that much is true...", she chillingly added.

The young lioness knew she couldn't let these taunts break her stride, she needed to get to the Pridelands, she needed to- 

LIONESS CUB: "OOF!" 

Just then the young cub ran directly into another cub, one with slightly darker fur.

OTHER LIONESS CUB: "Hey! Watch it!", She growled, "Do you know who I am?! I am Kiara, future Queen of the Pridelands"

LIONESS CUB: "You are princess Kiara?! Please, I don't want any trouble, I need to get to the Pridelands...", she croaked before she broke down.

Young Kiara saw this and her demeanor softened.

KIARA: "It's ok, what is your name? Why are you crying?", she asked calmly yet with a comforting friendly tone.

LIONESS CUB: "M-my name is Tiifu, and....", she started.

Before she could continue, Kajik and Hera had caught up with the two.

KAJIK: "I told you we would catch up with you", he said grinning wickedly.

HERA: "Is the young cub ready to join her parents?", she said in a taunting, yet evil way.

KIARA: "This is the Pridelands! Tiifu is safe here, you two are not welcome in this kingdom!", she growled lowly.

KAJIK: "Isn't this adorable... it seems Tiifu has found a friend...", he laughed.

HERA: "And how cute, this cub thinks she can tell us what to do", she grinned sending chills down Tiifu's spine.

Yet, even with the taunts Kiara stood strong in front of her new friend inches from the fangs of the Leopard intruders.

KIARA: "As future Queen, I can tell you two what to do!", she firmly stated.

This got the Leopards' attention.

KAJIK: "Future queen, hmmmm?", he growled.

HERA: "You must be Kiara....", she surmised as she too growled.

KAJIK: "We knew your great uncle... he was a true leader...", he stated plainly.

HERA: "Sure was, we did many favors for him...", she said as the two Leopards began to circle the two small cubs.

KAJIK: "It seems we should return the favor..", he said in a low tone.

HERA: "Indeed, by ridding his killer's heir....", she said as she bared her fangs smiling.

Kiara noticeably became fearful as did Tiifu, as the two Leopards closed in on both sides. Suddenly a thunderous roar was heard, turning the tables and instead making the two Leopards stop in their tracks and quake in fear. A golden lion, with a full red mane charged to the group from the hillside followed by a lioness right beside him and dozen or so lionesses behind that.

SIMBA: "You two?! Step away from that cub, and my daughter...", he growled lowly recognizing the two leopards.

KAJIK: "Ohhh this is your daughter here?", he asked pretending to be ignorant and nervously pointing to Kiara.
