Caitlyn Jenner and Transgender Rights

I just don't understand why Caitlyn Jenner keeps getting shit from people. She doesn't deserve that. I think that she was brave to be able to have broken out from her skin and made the transition. It's partially people who are ignorant to the entire concept of changing your gender. Like Drake Bell. He tweeted: "Sorry... but I'm still calling you Bruce." Of course people freaked out and called him a "transphobic asshole". But this just creates more hate. It's better to just educate people on topics like these rather than attacking them because of their lack of knowledge.

People who are transgender deserve to have the same rights as everyone else. Your gender doesn't necessarily have to do with the genitals that you are born with. To me, gender is a state of mind. It's if you feel comfortable or not in your own skin.

I also believe that straight people shouldn't pass up dating someone just because they are transgender. Dating a transgender person wouldn't make you gay, or even bisexual if it's your fragile sexuality that you're worried about.

I was born a girl. I feel comfortable in my own skin, I still am a girl and I plan on staying this way. So if a girl has a guy's body, it doesn't make her any less of a girl than I am. And if a guy has a girl's body, it doesn't make him any less of a guy than any other dude.

Have you heard of Leelah Alcorn? She actually killed herself because her parents wouldn't let her make the transition. Just think about it, people are dying over this because of all people that don't accept them. Transgender people don't need our pity, they just need our support. Treat them just like you would treat anyone else, because they deserve that.

So next time you want to judge someone because they're transgender, just think about what gender really is.

And next time you want to talk about how "gross" being transgender is, shut the fuck up, because nobody needs to hear your hateful and useless opinion.
