Dining Out

Lucius was currently starring at the side of my face after we'd ordered off the menu at Le Gavroche.

We'd all been silent while browsing the items— I knew Lucius was cross with me for swearing in the bookstore. I'd been ignoring his disapproving glances since we'd bought our books.

It was very typical of him to ignore the violent behavior of his sons but draw the line at my "inappropriate language".

Draco had excused himself to go to the bathroom so now it was just me and him.

I chewed my bottom lip pretending to be enraptured by the decor in the restaurant. We sat at a five seated table in one of the corners—Lucius had requested it and I assumed it was because it was quite private, tucked away in the far back. Candles lit the table and it seemed like a normal, non magic restaurant. Though it was a revered French 'Michelin star' and Draco had raved about it on the walk over.

"Y/N."

"Yes Lucius?" I said as I grabbed my water and took a long sip, still not looking at him.

"Although I'd prefer not to discuss this now—"

"Then don't," I interrupted as my eyes slid to his.

I put my glass back on the tablecloth.

His nostrils flared, as he watched a waiter pass us, resigning to silence until they were out of earshot.

"Well I'll have to insist. Uphold yourself with some decorum in public for heaven's sake. Swearing in a bookstore for anyone to hear Y/N? I mean truly. We do have a public image to uphold," he said in a hushed voice with clipped speech.
Then added, "And, I think you owe Otto an apology."

I closed my eyes to roll them.

"That is an interesting perspective, Lucius. But I have decided never to speak to him again, so unfortunately I'll have to decline."

"Not speaking to him ever again is not a realistic, nor feasible, option," he countered.

"Oh please. We barley speak as is. And if you really want me to apologize I'm sure we can find other ways to communicate. I'm completely willing to send him a message through you. You can tell him 'sorry you're a egotistical, unbearable—"

I stopped as our waiter interrupted to place the drinks we'd ordered on the table. I smiled and thanked him as Lucius didn't take his eyes off me.

As our waiter walked away I leaned in towards Lucius to finish in a whisper as I grabbed the newly arrived Shirley temple and slid it towards myself, "'violent, prat'."

Then I took a long sip through the straw.

"You know, maybe I prefer you don't speak to him this evening given your attitude. Could you at least behave tonight and we will talk about it later. Otto will be coming here with his friend for dessert so can you refrain from throwing derogatory language at him in front of his guest?" he asked with bite.

I didn't answer him as Draco rejoined the table and looked between us as he placed his napkin in his lap.

"What'd I miss?" Draco said noting the tension.

"Nothing. Business as usual," I said with a fake smile to Draco. He raised his brows with an unconvinced look as he grabbed a slice of bread from the basket.

"Can you do that? Can we have a nice meal and evening out, please?" Lucius whispered with irritation, leaning into me so that Draco might not hear.

"I'd like nothing more," I said, turning my head to hold his stare.

He shook his head and grabbed his drink.
