Okay so I really hope you guys like this chapter!!! I had so much fun writing it!!

It's split into two separate parts.

As always, I'm open to feedback.

"So what did you do today?" Lucius asked, but there was a hint of accusation behind it.

When I'd walked into the dining room, Draco and Lucius were already sitting and Lucius looked as though he was scolding him.

They'd both looked up at me as I walked to the table and took the spot directly across from Draco's, the same one I had sat at the night before.

I felt like I'd interrupted something, as Lucius's eyes slide back to Draco's as if sharing a secret code with just a look.

I had sat down mere seconds ago, not even having taken two bites of the meal that appeared, when Lucius asked me a question.

I'd assumed we would sit in silence like the night before. Plus, no one had ever asked me about my day. Not here or before.

It threw me off.

"I walked the grounds," I answered, then added, "and read."

"Hmmm," he said with an obviously fake smile, considering me.

I'd changed and brushed my hair for dinner, but I could still feel his disapproval of my previous state—the ripped stockings and muddied shoes and disheveled hair.

I took another bite just so I had a reason to look away. Then I looked at Draco and saw he was smirking.

What was this weird atmosphere.

Did they want me to say something?

"What did you do?" I asked awkwardly, directing the question to Lucius.

"Hmm. Oh nothing exciting. Something urgent happened during court at the ministry. But everything seems to be urgent to my colleagues nowadays," he answered.

"What's the ministry?" I asked and Draco gave me an odd look.

I should have kept my mouth shut.

"You don't know what the ministry of magic is?" Draco asked with confusion.

I felt my face turn red, suddenly feeling like an idiot.

"Draco," Lucius cautioned.

But Draco ignored his father, "How do you not know what the ministry of magic is? You have to be living under a rock not to know that."

"Sorry I asked," I shot at him.

"Did your parents tell you much about the magic world?" Lucius inquired, looking concerned.

"No," I said quietly, "But I've read books on spells and potions. And I know how to use a wand."

Lucius hummed to himself again as he looked at me then said, "The Ministry of Magic is like the ruling authority over those with magic in the United Kingdom. There are many departments within it. The one I work in is the Department of Magical Law Enforcement."

"Oh, okay," I said passively, going back to eating my pasta. I wasn't about to ask another question and make myself look stupid. I felt them both starring at me.

Lucius then said, "You know I think it'd be a good idea for you to take cotillion classes until you're ready to be introduced into society."

I didn't want to ask another dumb question, but I had no idea what he was talking about.
